Damaged lip spoiler 348 Speciale

    After 9 years the day has finally come. Today I scrapped my lip spoiler on my 348 ts Speciale and took a good sized chunk out of it. I was considering these three options:

    1. Using touch-up paint to "build-up" the area so it is not as noticable (most desirable price-wise)

    2. Replacing entire spoiler (haven't found out price yet but probably ridiculous). Best place to buy part?

    3. Repairing it somehow (?) and then using touch-up paint.

    Any thoughts or recommendations to fix this and also prevent it from happening again? I saw this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=33638&item=8037064896). Anybody know if they are any good? Problem is it makes the spoiler even lower.

    Um...........maybe you should take it to a paint/body shop so they can have a look at it. I dont think the touch-up paint will help you here. :p Is the front spoiler fibreglass? That can be repaired easily if so. :)

    That's an easy body shop repair. Some filler, some sanding, respray the spoiler (no blending needed), and you're done. $200-$300 job.

    MaCarbon and Valence have them in carbon fiber for about six and a half.

    I suggest the same. Easy fix. That's a nice chunk you took out of it...bet that sounded like a kick in the nads. Sorry to see it.

    I had a much bigger piece taken out of mine and a local body shop fixes it a resprayed the bumper $1,000.00 and you couldn't tell it had ever had a few pieces missing.

    It's an easy fix the spoiler is attached by a series of rivets remove them and take the piece down to a body shop, if you can't do it yourself, they can fix the knick in no time. Don't feel bad I repaired mine twice in the 7 yrs I owned my SS and was always sooo careful with that car but, they are low it is bound to happen sooner or later. Regards, Vern

    LOL ! ITS AN EASY U FIX...! go to any auto supply . pick yourself up a can of kitty hair filler / just ask they know what it is. its basically bondo with fiber reinforcement in it .. scuff sand the area with 80 grit, dab in the mixed kitty hair, sand when hardened , reapply if area not built up. final sand with 220 or finer , paint . its not structural ... so easy ...!

    He probably had the whole bumper done for a thousand dollars. The SS spoiler lips are fiberglass of the crudest variety. The body filler approach is more than adequate in this case, and it will give you some practice for when you have to do it again. I can't believe it took you 9 years to do this.

    I can't remember how many times my lip spoiler has managed a chunk out of it!!

    Easy fix!! Any body shop should be able to do it for $200 bucks....especially if you can remove it yourself and just give them the piece to repair.

    That would make a great pictorial for the 348 Primer. Show the Brotherhood that bodywork can be done.
