My GT is an 05, and the fit and finish is easily comparable to the 360. People that say the fit and finish is not up to par have never seen the car, or have a jaded opinion on it first and have it already set in there mind it's a POS, so in their eyes, it looks like a POS. I do have to say that the Ford Econoline van comment was funny, even though not true.
Theirs absolutely nothing wrong with the build quality of the ford GT. and as for that road an track test I have another test by motor trend where the gt was faster on the roadcourse too. dont get me wrong I love ferraris Ive got 4 theyre amazing to drive and where they really excell is in how you feel as if you where part of the car. but dont underestimate the gt. My car with the mods I did will do 10's in the 1/4 a top speed of around 230 and is super stable and up to now very reliable. that sounds impressive to me.
*enter dream sequence* I wish that Ford would have developed a V8 similer to the LS7 that is in the new ZO6 for the Ford GT. Its hard to best a well designed NA motor. *back to reality*
what in the world for? when you develop a high compression normally aspirated motor its very difficult to make a significant increases in horsepower. The engine in the ford GT is considered bullet proof and with a few cheap mods makes as much horsepower as the full out racing corvette.
Ill have my GT on Saturday, going to go pick it up in Dallas. I just sold my 360 so I really hope I didnt make a bad move but I think the performance numbers on the GT really stand up to most other supercars out there today, and although numbers dont give the whole story, I am happy I wont have to be paying for Cam belt services and driving to Phoenix to get my car serviced. Now when the 430's get down to a reasonable price range Ill probably buy one since they seem to be more than just a step up from the 360 but a whole different animal.
To quote one of my co-members at the ford GT forum regarding the R&T article: "The comparison was pretty well fixed by the different tires on the cars. The two best lap times were by the cars that had P Zero Corsa tires. Last I looked, the Ferrari normally comes with Bridgestone Potenza RE 050A tires and the Gallardo with Pirelli Rossos. The P Zero Corsa is Pirelli's DOT-legal Competition tire primarily developed for use on high performance cars at drivers' schools and lapping days conducted on race tracks. The P Zero Corsa incorporates Pirelli's racing experience to enhance driving satisfaction at the limits of performance. Also known as DOT track tires, they have a 60 treadwear (softness) rating, one of the lowest, which means soft and sticky. By contrast, the Goodyears on the GT have a 220 treadwear (softness) rating and are real street tires. Looks to me that the GT could have been cheated by as much as 3 seconds a lap, depending on the condition of the old press car that they dug up."
This has been pretty well hashed out in other threads, but the key is the tires used, optional in Europe but not the U.S., were the PZero Corsa SYSTEM, not the Corsa. There is a big difference, the Corsa System tires were O.E. on the CS, even in the U.S., and drivers who have tried them on the track report they are pretty close the PS2 in performance, so the 3 sec/lap is highly unlikely. From the Ford Truck forum it seems that plenty who are playing with the pulleys and ECU of the supercharged truck motor at the strip are having some pretty spectacular failures. The ratios don't look too healthy for the 5.4. Anyone blown up their Ford Gt yet? There is an obvious reason why GM haven't stroked the northstar motor and thrown on a supercharger for the Z06. With new ali side oilers available Ford shouldn't have gone cheap with the motor on the new GT. A Ford without an FE is a crime.
My boost gauge goes to 15lbs and my needle goes crazy. I think I have about 16 to 17. My gt spent about 8hrs on a dyno and has a really custom tune. So i know there will not be a blower motor in that baby.
Here is my stock vs mods dyno sheet. Can beat picking up over 100 rwhp for $7K. My Ferrari Dealer called me tonight, F430 will be here on monday. Then i can do some serious comps on and off track. 638rwhp or about 730 crank hp at 12% loss in drive train. Just a tad more then the F430. Image Unavailable, Please Login
my gt did more or less the same #s its funny how ignorant some people are. this motor is considered bulletproof it was designed by roush and is made with super strong components when more aftermarket parts come out for this car its going to be even harder to touch this car. Theirs a lot more potential in many aspects of this cars performance
