No my father has an old Jag but its not running well. The battery charger is having problems. I would love an E type. That's why I have been asking around. I heard there is one about but not sure if its for sale. I have only seen the ones recently at Malayan Motors including the now black DHC which was actually parked at C & C on the same day next to his equally Black SL 190.

the sultan's F40 and F50 were converted to RHD by pininfarina not ferrari. they also made the ferrari venice stationwagon for him.

The reason why they are cheaper, they are very much in supply still. Most of the E types suffer from rust issues.

Hey good work there. Yes, Pininfarina did a lot of customised jobs for our Sultan there & kept some of those companies alive for a while.

I've got no money left on the TR which looks fine now except maybe the interior. The front steering is still a little weird, it's just not as sharp as I want it to be, maybe it's just like that as it's a very heavy & big car. I did a 3point turn @ Hurry's yesterday & it was very tiresome. It has a new steering rack, balljoints, anti-roll bar bushes on 225 fronts which were just few months old. I'm wondering if there's any expert out there who can help me to take a look into this. I hope the ball joints are not shot again & maybe it's just a tyre problem.

Do you guys know if there's any difference on steering when we have 225.35R18 & 225.35R19 or 215.40R17? Does an increase in sidewall helps?

Oh don't think I should use 215 when factory spec was already 225.50.R16.

You mean the steering just recently became that way or its the first time you've attempted a 3 point turn in the TR? I find non power steering cars with small sports steering wheel very tiring to do a 3 point turn especially if its a manual.. trying to move the car as slow as possible so the steering can be turned easier. Though I'm not sure different tyres would have significant difference in resistance.

It has never felt sharp since day one while running on 18", even with the new rack it's slightly better. I've also changed to a slightly bigger & fatter steering wheel & I did a few three point turns before & it's not that bad but marginally worse than my old 911SC (short wheel base but 235s front) & I rarely encounter 3pt turns. I'm more concerned with tight hi-speed runs around windy roads. I want a more predictable feel. My ex-F348 was quite nice (had a new rack) & my 911 with a complete new front assembly is very good & I have a alcantara momo which improves grip. Some Jap makes are too light for my liking.

    yo,

yes , foreigners can own local Malaysian cars. But probably
cannot get finance for them , so you'll need to pay cash or
have a special arrangement with the bank/finance company.

    a 360 will be between 700 to 800K , Ringgit , depending on year.

    a 355 will be about 3XX

    a 348 will be about 2XX

a Testa will be 1XX close to 200.

... you guys , please dun come over and buy our cars lah ... as it
is , all our women ..... aiya ...

Road tax in Malaysia can be worse than ours, the bigger cc attracts more money & new continental cars cost more than ours here even though they don't have COE. But the good thing is I think their classic status starts @ 25 & they give roadtax incentives from then on rather than piling up like us & they don't have annual inspections. So you can do whatever you want with your car. You can even share the licence plate if you dare but like what Isk says their JPJ (equivalent of LTA) is very knowlegeable on exotics & classics & their values as well.

I spoke to someone in the car shipping business recently. She was recounting how they unload the cars and joked that car showrooms made such a big show about new cars and not stressing the engine and the need for running in a new car when the car jockeys were revving the cars and speeding like mad to beat the clock to unload. She said that in fact it was reported that sometimes after some cars are unloaded and there is space, "unauthorised" crew would start revving and driving the cars around the decks ! (car carriers have massive decks for taking hundreds of cars). So much for your "new" cars from the showroom.

Still working in office now & I don't have cable :( :( no time to watch.

Why bother with how much HSM pays for it? We're not going to get one below S$700K for a new model anytime soon. Unless it's a fluke deal from a lucky draw! Don't forget it's the taxes we're paying too & the new parf....aiya.

Met a client yesterday who's deciding on either a CaymanS or Z4M, both S$300K+/- cars.

It was the F 60 and it was a "dream" car - real one not as expensive but same colour and make.

For those who gave battery advice, thanks. Bought a "securestart" starter from Autobacs. Its made by GP Battery cost $98. I could not find the thru the lighter charger which is I can see would be good for hard to reach batteries.

Yeah, its on onemotoring, it's now showing for the month of August however there are no F-cars imported for aug so no listing, there is no archive available. I saw the July or June list and the F430 F1 basic total cost after taxes was $410k+. was thinking to myself that if i could get such a profit, I don't need to work for 10 years! there is the gallardo spyder listed now, much more profit than the f430.

well, my colleague once told me such figures are useful if you contract a parallel importer to bring in the car, can roughly gauge the price.. not sure such a thing has been done before.

Lung, tonight's the night for the miami vice screening, not using your free tickets?

here's something of interest, the FerrariChat website back in 2001 :D though the links don't work

I like the spyker but not the steering wheel that reminds me of a boat & the rims will have to go. I like the cross-stitched interior that's the rage now & the circular grained aluminium dash which reminds me of old Bentleys. That's on the looks & I have no idea how it handles but the construction is my cup of tea, very old school. Well, I'm a classic guy.

On the prices of those cars. Maybe one day in the near future, someone will parallel exotics. It's been done on Porsches for quite a while now & my friend got his fully loaded 997C2S through PI, it was one of the first in Singapore & saved a hefty S$80K over agent. The deal also included the agent's subsequent warranty which costs about S$5k+ then & he told me the PI guy made just S$10K+ but he did traded in his 996.

On the Z4, it's the new M version which will scare a couple of cars & I hear it's launched yesterday. My client had a M3 which he sold recently & I did suggest to him that perhaps spending another S$100K or so & he'll get a 'proper' Porsche which is the 997 but he'd need to spec it again.
