Will try to incorporate some of the earlier sketches into the new chassis design, and will try to slim the waistline. Do yuo have an idea of the height? maybe 1200mm.? or more?

For example, I thought these two sketches capture a nice form, while also being a bit more realistic perhaps.
That is not to say that we shouldnt push the limits of design and concept here, but the "Dino Car Co" designproject is pushing to refine the concepts into a streetable project.

    Look for chassis updates soon.

    Cheers

I forgot about those sketches!!!, but aren't they too retro?, I believe the shape to be very clean and simple, maybe even delicate and femminine.....

Quite a few of you guys liked those past sketches, so maybe I should reconsider my thoughts......

The Dino could go either way. Using the general idea and specification of a lightweight 2 seat sports tourer, it can simply be a new version of that idea without ties to the original shape, (The new Lotus Europa is VERY close to this ideal).
Or it can be completely tied to the original shape and form and try to bring the strong points forward (as you and Michael have done) into the modern era. Sometimes that works, and sometimes it is just not possible to do well.

In reality the Dino grew up to be the F430, which is a reasonably lightweight 2 seat sports tourer.

So I think here in this exercise, we are looking to re-capture some of the original Dino ideals. Todays customers are more concerned with horsepower numbers and 0-60 times, but this Dino can do as does Lotus and use small to medium displacement and light weight construction to deliver similar performance in a less complex package.

I dont think anyone around here would be upset to see as many Dino styling cues as possible.

    I like both.

    I do too!

Difficult subject, but a nice challenge!
I'd like to use some typical keypoints of the original Dino (Three vents, laidback appearance, slim line, high curves...etc, etc.)
But also make it a typical modern Ferrari.
The Europa S is indeed VERY close, but luckily it's not much like a real Ferrari.

very early on I suggested the lotus elite as a good starting point for a new Dino ( and was surprised at the somewhat negative reaction), but I see we've returned to it.

I thought it might be helpful to post a dimensional comparison of the 2 cars:

    Dino
    Wheelbase 2344 mm 92.3 in
Track front 1372 mm 54 in
    rear 1346 mm 53 in
    Length 4234 mm 166.7 in
    Width 1707 mm 67.2 in
    Height 1143 mm 45 in
Ground clearance 120 mm 4.7 in

    Lotus Elise
    Wheelbase 2300 mm 90.6 in
Track front 1440 mm 56.7 in
    rear 1453 mm 57.2 in
    Length 3726 mm 146.7 in
    Width 1701 mm 67.0 in
    Height 1148 mm 45.2 in
Ground clearance 160 mm 6.3 in

very much the same size. most significant difference is the overall length at 500mm(!); all in overhang. given the ground clearance, one could argue the the Dino has a lower height as well.

    cheers

you mean the Elise has a lower height. Based on your figures, the Dino is 40.3 inches high versus the Elise @ 38.9 inches high.

Some updates o the FCD chassis.

I have changed the engine to a V6. Still long. mount.
The wheelbase is now 99" (2515mm)
Track is still 62" F/R, for now.

I am working on the rollover structures and other details. I have a simple plan for suspension mount location that will allow for easy production changes. The powertrain will bolt into the chassis via a seperate subframe (as on other mid engine Fcars).
The seats and pedal box are too close to centerline currently. I will be changing that. The seats are representitive only. They are not ideal in size or shape for this car. But they can approximate interior volumes.

current weight estimation for the bare aluminum chassis is 220-250Lb. I will be adding various structures, seat mounts, seatbelt mounts, HVAC components etc...as time allows. I will also add a human form to test ergonomics, sight lines, ingress/egress requirements, etc...

Ok, gotta go back to work.

Very nice rendering. I love to see the drawings for the older cars. I have seen one for the Boxer that looks like it may have also been done by Brovarone.

Slightly off topic - does anyone have any sketches for the 308 GTB?

Very nice. I see you're using CATIA V5.

I don't know if the attached picture of the 360 cross-section has been posted before, but I thought it would be interesting. I think that if Ferrari want to make a low-cost entry level Dino, they should use the chassis of the 360/430 as this would require little or no new development cost. It would not be state-of-the art compared to 430 replacement, but it doesn't need to be as it should cost a lot less.

Yes I posted the 512BB some time ago and it was done by Brovarone, I did have a 308 sketch somewhere but can't find it, but I will have to look better in the pile of old clippings I have....

Thanks Fuoriserie! I would really love to see the sketch(es) for the 308. It's probably by Fioravanti. It will be interesting to compare it to another BB sketch I have seen, signed by LF.

BTW, I'm very impressed by the quality and originality of your designs for the New Dino - v. nice! I feel inspired to start sketching again myself...

It's good to see that the project has progressed this much. Unfortunately I no longer have the time to donate any designs, as development of my own supercar has me swamped indefinitely. I wanted to wish you all good luck in your endeavor. I will be anticipating your final results in the future and hopefully after launch I will be able to have a life again... one can always dream :p
