And the same to you and all the members of FerrariChat who celebrate the Holiday! Happy New Year! May we all be so fortunate as to be written in the Book of Life for yet another year; a sweet year.
don't be dissapointed. my grandmother sent me a good email yesterday. Dear Friends and Family, Next week we Jews will begin our 5767th year on this earth! Who would have believed this possible? If anyone had told Abraham that his people would be around this long he probably would have been astounded. Imagine, we did this without beheading anyone, without a single suicide bomber, without kidnapping and murdering school children, without slaughtering Olympic athletes, and without flying airplanes into skyscrapers. We lasted this long despite 400 years as slaves in Egypt, 40 years of wandering in the desert, the mighty Roman army who nailed us to ten thousand crosses; despite the best efforts of the Christian crusaders, the Spanish Inquisition, Hitler's third Reich, Stalin's gulags, Arab wars of annihilation, 100 years of Arab and Arafat terrorism, and 800 hate-filled UN resolutions! How did we Jews do it? We did it by concentrating our efforts on education, love of family, faith, hard work, helping one another and a passionate dedication to life no matter what evil befell us! We hung in there in hope the rest of the world would one day overcome it's hatreds, jealousies, violence and join us in a life of cooperation and mutual respect. We're not there yet, but we're still hopeful. And when we enter our places of worship next weekend, this is what we'll pray for with all the strength in our hearts. Best wishes for a New Year filled with health, happiness, laughter, success, joy, and kindness and may this coming year bring peace and security to Israel and to the Jewish communities in the Diaspora. 5767 and counting! shana tova, mazel tov on our 5767th year!
Shana Tova to all!!!!! but this statement is to onesided.....every culture perpetuates evil in there own way. This statement points to many fingers
i should have mentioned before i posted it that i don't agree with everything in it, and hindsight 20/20, i wish i had of edited it a little bit, but it's still thought provoking. this email to me kind of makes judaism out to be a religion a step above every other, which i disagree with. being a jew myself, i don't see any one religion being better, or worse. everyone believes in something, and belief, granted whatever it may be, is always a good thing.
Forget Crystal, I want a Manischewitz (black label) straight up (the way the Hebrew Hammer takes his).
Thank you very much. Now I should point out I am a gentile (raised Catholic) but I freakin' love the Hebrew Hammer movie. I also love food and the Jewish people know good eats and drinks. I could go for a good Reuben or Pastrami on rye and some little chocolate ruggalahs for dessert. Mmmmmm.......Jewish Deli, ahhhhhh Image Unavailable, Please Login
gotta love jewish cooking, nothing like some matzo ball soup, gefilta fish, reubens, i used to work at a little jewish deli named pumpernickel's here in st. louis, hated the job, LOVED the food, the cornsnitzel bagels were amazing! you have to take them with a little bit of cream cheese, a sliced onion, and of course, lox. mmmm...drool
My native S. FL. is a Jewish Mecca of sorts and we have this great small chain of New York/Jewish deli's called Two Jays. Totally awesome food!!!! And I just found out, there will be a sequel to the Hebrew Hammer! "Hebrew Hammer 2: Hammer vs Hitler" And aparantly, that Mel Gibson incident occurred right as they were finishing up the script. So they hastily went back and did some editing to make fun of him in the movie. It should be good. I don't know when it is coming out. It seems what happens in the film is that Mel is in a restaurant in Malibu going off on Jews to a cop and the Hammer rolls up, shoots Mel in the head, and puts a bloody star of david on the hood of his Lexus.
