Post your shots of current or archive 308 race / track day cars. Love those interior shots, too! Thanks, Pen.

    Here's a car I found in France - it's for sale! - Pretty cool.

Ferrari 308 GTB IMSA RACE CAR
    original racing history

That 308 was built in 1976 as a standard fiberglass GTB, used as a street car until 1984 in Holland where it was purchased by Howard F. Pynn ( AZ ) in 1984/1985 and then fully race prepared in USA to IMSA GTU and SCCA GT-2 classes specifications. Chassis was stripped, made lighter and then strongly reinforced with tubes that became the real structure of the new car. A new large fiberglass body was fitted, only the roof was kept original. The very efficient and expensive Michelotto suspensions were fitted with “knife” anti-roll bars and uniball joints. The brakes are big discs on bowl fitted with 4 pistons calipers. Engine and gear box were made by well know racing Ferraris and Miuras specialist Bob Wallace. The SCCA log book was delivered on the 5-19-1985 and then the Ferrari was raced in the SCCA GT2 regional championship in 1985/87/88/1989 being constantly upgraded to remain competitive. It won several class victories and became a reputed car. After the end of this racing career it was kept by the owner until 1994 and then he contacted “Auto Toy Store” to sell the car. In 1995 the car was sold to an English enthusiast with the intend to compete in the Ferrari Club Championship, the car was completely overhauled and received a new 3,2 liter engine and then raced until 2001. The front end was reworked in 2000 for more aerodynamic efficience and Penske adjustable shocks fitted.

It’s a very seriously prepared car with more than 320 HP very enjoying to drive due to less than 900 kg of weight. It’s in working condition but will require a complete service to be race ready. The car comes with a set of wet tyres with wheels and a huge history file from the buying ( including the registration ) of the 308 GTB in Holland, custom papers, pictures and invoices of the building, original race results, the original SCCA log book from 1985, the bills of sale from 1984, pictures and all the service history done in England along with many documents. Many pictures and scans about the history can be forwarded by e-mail. A very well documented and clear history Ferrari race car offered.

That car was at the Foc Raf Woodbridge speed run last year, but it blew an oil line on its first run and didn't go out again

There is also a very cool SCCA spec car at Mohr Motors in Monterey. Engine done by a famous German guy down in the L.A. area, whose name escapes me, now retired. The car was full roll cage, total glass body panel kit. Looked pretty bad-ass. They're asking $80K-ish.

Let's ferret out all the 308 racers. Would be an awesome special class at Cavalino.

Anybody have any shots of the 308 race car that is painted in Gulf oil liverey a la the Ford GT's?

I was at Roebling Road this weekend for the SCCA SARRC championship and was blown away by a BEAUTIFUL 308 running in GT2. I did not have my camera with me so I borrowed a friends. As soon as she sends me the pictures I will post them (hopefully today).

I had very little time to spend with the owner/driver and as a result did not learn a great deal about the car. He has been racing it for about a year and said it was one of about 5 built somewhere in California for the GT2 class during the mid 80's.

Hopefully someone else has seen this car elsewhere and can expand on its history.

Looks like the same wheel LANCIA STRATOS uses for their rally cars, its a
Campagnollo wheel. Very nice and very expensive.
