While the SV you went to see is no doubt a great car, that 288 GTO I see in the background is really the bees knees. Perhaps that is on your wish list as well?

Jon what color are you using in addition to the silver on the castings? Is that gunmetal? Are you clear coating those too? I'd like some more details on the type of paint, brand, using a paint booth?, etc.

Wow-sharp eyes, I didn't even notice it in the picture. He has an Enzo also, currently undrivable.

Everything I'm using comes from Eastwood. I used Aluma blast on the rough castings And am experimenting with another finish called detail gray for smooth castings like water pump housing. I'm not sure yet. Any comments. I put their high heat diamond mist clear on everything. I don't have a spray booth but the paint dries very quickly so hasn't been a problem.

I don't know if this is exact, but it's along these lines.

During my restoration, I was told to keep the coat of paint on my aluminum engine parts fairly thin so that the engine's running temperature would not be affected. The source was very knowledgeable. That being said, I'm sure Eastwood factors that into their R&D. Just a thought.

    I love that blue!

Not too different from my Maserati Bora and I've enjoyed it for 18+ years. The metallic will take on different characteristics in different lights and really lends itself to photography.

Perhaps you should plan on a Corbani tour of the Solvang and 152 backroads.

I'd hoped you'd tackle a 206GT next but since you're getting more advanced on this then the Miura will appeal to your honed skills (aka it will be tough to do the same).
Lambos have a reputation for being complicated....reliability is not a word one usually hears associated with Lambos

I have strong opinions of turbo charged cars (apologies in advance), but I do love the styling of the 288 GTO.

One local Enzo owner, Greg W, also has a non-driveable Enzo. A premature engine "anomaly" (aka failure) caused the engine to be returned to the factory and is waiting for analysis, resolution and then return.

Fortunately (as you know) Greg won't be lacking for other Ferraris to drive while the Enzo motor is out being "analyzed". That being said, he must be bummed.

I like the fact that you are going above and beyond what the factory did. Concours never did much for me unless it was a one-off model. Custom car builder Steve Strope uses alot of semi-gloss black, with silvers and graphite on engine and components. Its very subtle and clean looking. Yeah, I like modified cars. What some people call "patina" I call "tired".

This Enzo won't be on the road anytime soon. Crashed at 170mph.

How is the owner doing with his recovery?

Also, do you know if he was given a quote on fixing the Enzo?

    Regards,

    Art S.

He's doing fine, should fully recover. Don't think I can say that for the Enzo.

The F50 has a lot going for it.

Several local members who attended the Oregon Ferrari Rallye commented that he had been on his way there when it happened.

Have you had a chance to go through your water pump yet? In all the years I have worked on these cars I have yet to rebuild one but I now have one that must be rebuilt.
