    Gentlemen,

The whole set of fan switches and A/C and Heat switches under the the fuel and oil gauges on the center console including the clock and the other two little screens are not working. I noticed one of the large fuses that is marked for the LH AC Condenser is not even present.

I checked all the "colored" smaller fuses and non looked burnt. Which fuse is in charge of the above?

    Thanks.

Check some threads for the big 20A fuse under the front trunk carpet near the ABS stuff.

Before you get too excited Dean. Have you tried un-plugging the connector on the back of the unit, plug it back in and see if that works? I had the same issue. One day, my A/C/heater control panel went dead. After reading another guys post on here that I found in the archives through the search function. I un-plugged mine and then re-plugged it back in and it worked again. Try that mate. :)

It doesn't have a left hand condensor fan ;)

Pap, how do you reach that connector? Is it by unscrewing the side panels of the center console? Or access is from a different place?

Don't forget that you've got a 2nd fuse box panel in your passenger footwell.

Yeah I accessed mine by removing a couple of panels that screw into the centre console. The connection plug is on the left hand side of the console. We disconnected mine and left it like that for about 30 secs and reconnected it up and it worked ;)

Does that whole bunch (including the clock) operate on one fuse? I think I should at least check the fuse that operates the clock first in order to rule out the possibility of the fuse going bad before I check the connector. Would you know which fuse box (the one I have a pic above is the one in the front "trunk") holds the clock fuse... and which fuse is the one for the clock?

You've got two fuses for your instruments/lights, both in the passenger footwell: #6 and #10.

Then you've got a hidden A/C fuse all by itself, on the right side of your car, in your luggage compartment, under the felt liner near the ABS (you'll know that you are close to the hidden fuse when you see a different, empty fuse socket and you start asking yourself if you should put a fuse in it - don't).

The hidden fuse is shown in the picture below in the center, the brightest lit object, with brown wires on either end. That's the updated Ferrari version with a bullet fuse type that appears no where else in your car.

Yours will probably look like a black, burned, Ford fuse holder for the same style of fuses as in your passenger footwell and in the fuse panel that you pictured above.

You'll notice that yours will be burned, but appear to be intact and working.

    It's not.

    Thanks ND,

It seems that the problem would most probably be in the panel back connector as opposed to have the odds of 3 fuses going bad to cause all those switches, screens and clock to stop working.

I will check the connector, then the fuses if that didn't work. Will post results.

    Pap, thanks for you input.

    PAP,

The fuses seem to be fine. I unscrewed the side panel and took a look in there. (See pics.) I saw a connector coming from the front towards the back of the panel, but it is not connected to anything. I did not notice a place where it should connect to? Ids this supposed to be just laying there?

And, I saw a connector coming from the back of the panel that connected into a black box. I did not unplug it though until I talked to you first.

Which of those is the one you think is the issue?

    Thanks,
    Dean

Plug it into the HVAC unit; you'll be fine.

    Daniel,
Thanks. Is the HVAC unit that black box? If so, does this connect to the side of the box that faces the front of the car? Picture below

The HVAC unit is the control box with all the buttons. It looks like this:

    http://www.ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?cPath=13_734&products_id=201897

(the lower pictures show the cable connection point)

Plug that cable into the rear of the control unit. You need to remove some of the dash plates to reach it easily -- unless you have super long monkey arms and the flexibility of a 15 year old Romanian gymnast.

I was in the HVAC last night. Some ape had pushed the clock set buttons so hard they had dissapeared into the unit, and smashed the switches on the clock PCB.

To get the HVAC unit out remove the ashtray inserts. Remove 2 screws in the bottom of the ashtray and remove it. Remove the gear knob and gate and lift out that section of the centre console. The top section with the HVAC and gauges can then be gently removed by sliding it down and back. There are cables going to the gauges, switches and HVAC. The yellow plug goes in the back of the HVAC.

If you need to go in the HVAC dismantling is simple, but be careful not to break the wires linking the PCBs together. I soldered in 2 new switches, found the buttons and reassembled. The whole thing is now fine.

Best of luck, How's your car doing, Dean. Mine seems OK but has a quite a few minor issues but I'm getting there.
    Phil

Edit. If you have "the stickies" why not strip and repaint these sections while they are out. I found AVGAS a good solvent for the black gunge. It just wipes it away.

    Gentlemen,

You are great! I attached it to the HVAC and its working great!!!
    Thanks for your help!

348Pilot, I did not have to take out the ashtray and knob. I went from the side as PAP suggested and "clicked" the connecter right into its slot in the HVAC! I put the side panel back and that was it!!

Again, thanks Pap, Daniel and ND!
