I thought that race was really tight.. and with the monstrous torque that the Vette packs, it doesn't really matter that the guy started in "wrong gear". Anyway, good race.

Well, it took 12+ yrs for GM to come up with something that will slightly beat a Viper...... and in the process managed to "Slightly" out-perform a Lambo G and a F430.... WOW...... Whew!!!!! Took them long enough!!!!!!
    Good for them..........

We've all heard how certain "lower priced" cars beat high end cars for yrs. now.... Give it a rest.... *YAWN*
Just about anything is possible these days!!!!!!

LP640 is 0,6 secs faster to 60 mph, thats ALOT...
    3,3 vs 3.9

And when the vette hits top speed this beast will go almost another 20 mph.
Also you get 4 Z06s for the LP640 so Z06 is better bang for the buck and that is it´s main attribute, cheapest really fast car on the planet.

And Murci sounds better then 100 Z06s =)

Well said. That's pretty much my thoughts on it. I love my Z06. But I LOVE Ferraris. They just have so much soul.

I agree. The Murci uncorcked is one of my favorite sounds. I would almost buy one just to hear that sound. They need to make a two wheel drive version though. That 4 wheel system they have eats gobs of power. Murcis dyno at about 430whp. That's 30 less than a typical Z06. That's 25% power loss which is huge.
So if we take the LP640's 630hp X 75% that only gives you 472hp. That's only 12 more than a Z06 at the wheels. Not enough to overcome the big weight difference. They will definately top out faster due to gearing though. I just think the Z06 will likely beat it to it's own top speed. I sat in an LP640 the other day and it had one of the sweetest interiors I have seen. I love the quilted seats.

Check your stats. Z06 has been tested from a 0-60 in 3.4 secs. Check out C&D, December of 2005 issue against the Viper.

When the LP640 traps at 127 mph, then we can talk.

like the other 100 posts since...there is MORE to a car than just being fast! that was the point i was making! Going fast is merely one component of the driving experience--i never discounted the fact that 'being fast' never added to the driving experience. Here it is again for the less astute...Both the ZO6 and 430 are really fast cars, but what about reading between the lines? What about the other sensations while you are hauling ass? Gee whiz! Apparently RonnieC6Z got the gist of it...

Automobil tested the vette for several runs and never got below 4 secs in perfect conditions. So 3.4 is imo a joke.

    http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/c6/2006/z06/2006z06perf.html

Guess it might be able to do average 3.8 still 0.5 sec diff =ALOT. Up to 125 mph they look quite similar which surprices me. The vette is indeed a very fast car.

I would beat the vette up to 30 mph with my old Audi RS2 from 1995 though (315hp) =)

Cars are so quick these days 0-100 deosn't mean so much anymore. 40-125 is a much better measure. 0-60 in under 4 seconds is definately a tricky affair in a Z06. It's easy in a Murci or a Gallardo. You just have to remember that 3 or 4 of those costs you an $8000 clutch. At the least the Porsche TT's won't puke after a few runs.

plz don't compare a corvette with a ferrari or lambo or any exotic, even between a S2000 and a vette I will get the S2000, I m from France but live in orlando FL now and I used to own and try alot of nice car and I can tell you that the pleasure is not about doing 0 to 60 in 3.3 or 5.5, the real pleasure is about what the car give you back... someone who buy a ferrari will never consider buying a vette that's just 2 different world... and be unique plz where is the pleasure to have the same car as everybody...

The real question is could Chevy sell a product at over 200,000$ AND have people begging to get on a list just for the chance to buy one? Somehow I don't think so.

Spoken like a true arrogant Frenchman. I've owned both as have many many members on this board. What does that make us?
Ferraris are special for special driving occaisions which is why many of us own Z06s for our daily drivers. They're cheap and you can rack up the miles without caring very much.
