Winton its save and got speed ,braking ,cornering and good viewing for the gang.Plus I want to see the BB through the sweeper into top corner, plus go up there any friday and practice, get to know your baby again.
I'm not worried about the track safety anywhere. I've driven the long and short track at Brands Hatch, Thruxton (VERY FAST), Donnington and Silverstone variations.... and I've never even spun it or missed a stop etc... (and I've mixed lap times with several 355s at all those places despite peepee's refusal to accept it)
with all that torque, how is Sandown going to hurt the box, less chance of hurting it there then Winton or the Creek, forget Bathurst it don't do lap dashes.More low gear changes at Winton then Sandown
Sandown has too many bumps in the acceleration zones. I've repaired MANY diffs/boxes/drive shafts etc that broke there and seen many more, in just 6 years I've been here. Winton is easy on mechanicals, as is PI. Been to Bathurst too, just wanna do some laps.
were not going to run on slicks, phli I've run sandown for years never had a issue but then again strong cars old Carrera and mustangs with 9 inch diffs.would have thought the boxer was strong in the drive shafts,at Sandown from memory down the main if you stay out wide its smother then the inside fence.with all the boxers torque i'd short shift any way, like turn one go around there in 4th,just use the corner speed,3rd gear would get you to corner before back straight onto that in second,at the break mark i would think BB 150 metre fourth down to Dandenong corner, sure its a drag strip but it suits powerful cars like ours.
Nope. BB's are weak in diff, lower gears and quill shaft (intermediate shaft from transfer gears into box....already broke mine once) And I use 275 wide R specs on rears Image Unavailable, Please Login
i had a set of Goodrich comp t/a's left over from the mustang, the chossen tyre for dry/wet cheap $300,and good size on boxer 225 front 255 rear they run very little thread R1's are the model.
Yeah, never driven the BB on them but used them extensively on 308/328 in both 14" and 16" sizes.. great tyre.. very progressive and reasonable grip.
walk on the road a bit but that could be my front springs and the s/bars.you should try them good to get your thoughts compared to P7.what thought's on the Tb 15.
walk on road will be alignment out or tyre pressures maybe, not tyre type or springs/bars unless full race spec like ~1200 lbs. Up to try them, for sure. Not sure about TB15. Heard good things about the new generation just released. Not old problems of low load capabilities it seems... just don't like low ground clearance/gearing change.
yeah yeah... jag schmag. Pipe and slippers and an old comfy arm chair for you.. this is what gets me interested... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
could be right yesterday drove car and put tyre pressure's down to 25ps all round felt better springs i reckon 550 to 65o pounds, having said that i don't know about coil thickness
Yes. Worked revivial meeting 98 and 99 (in period costume). Running DK cars... 250 GTO, 250 TR, 500TRC, 860 Monza... and kicked jags arse with Stephan Johansson driving GTO!! The jags I like best are the ones with wood and leather and 150 lb" springs that take your nanna to church without spilling her sherry....
sorry Pap.. Just realised I used "wood" "leather" and "nanna" all in the same sentence. Sweet dreams mate...
rob...bad news for you....i've told you before...i've been up against a jag once in a REAL race....me in the boxer...blew it to the weeds. hotted up E-type crap heap. phil's going to snap you like a twig.
and what about this year and last year ,go to the D.k site there jag won, even now they have seen the light.those lwt e-type are monster's 350plus hp and under a 1000kilo's having said that they all run modern brake's ect far from historic.was the GTO a rep, most are that race.springs mine are not much more than 250ib's,jag lights soft arse with stiff front, having said that ive got standard front bar ,thicker rear and mid thickness torsion bars, all the time has gone into the shocks and caster/camber.
doesn't matter if it's racing or not...even sprints....boxer= faster than those jags. robs just trying to justify selling his boxer. he knows it's the wrong car to sell.
