I think if you asked most Tiger fans before the season started if they thought the Tigers had a chance to make the playoffs they would have said you were crazy. It was just a few years ago when the Tigers almost broke the single season record for most losses. Yesterday was a great day for Detroit sports. It has been too long since we have had a team playing in October for a reason - that includes the Lions :)

Go Tigers! Should be a fun fall here in Michigan, and would be even better if the Lions bus ever shows up for a game. :)

I am happy to see that the Tigers seem to have gotten beyond their end-of-season slump. When they play their A-game, they are unbeatable. They dominated the regular season, and certainly deserve to be in the playoffs. Let's hope they make it a little further than the Red Wings and Pistons........

Lions? Who's that? There's an NFL team in Detroit? The college teams here can beat the freaking Lions!

Dan, I think that you give the Lions too much credit. All of my Alma Matters (De La Salle Collegiate High School, Albion College and Wayne Sate) could beat the Lions. I think that Albion could beat them with their b-team.

I was listening to Parker and the Man last night and Mark Wilson comes up with the Bears magic number is 5 to eliminate the Lions. :(

Well, there's always next year. Look how far the Tigers have come.

I doubt that De La Salle could beat the Lions. Now, Catholic Central--my alma mater--would annihilate them. (-:

When I went to Wayne they didn't have a football team.

Congratulations to the Tigers! They're still my number one team.

Wayne's football team is intramural I believe.

BTW: De La Salle played CC last Sunday afternoon...care to guess who won?

I don't like sports generally speaking, but the Tigers deserve this big time.
    +1 to Detroit

Class of '91, brother. I was planning on being at the tast of De La Salle dinner on the 14th (as I dontated the printing of the tickets) but I have a conflict. Haven't been in the school in a couple of years, but it is always nice to get back.

So, did you learn to spell at De La Salle?

Just kidding, of course. De La Salle is an excellent school. Many of my friends went there, including a guy who helped ignite my love of Ferraris. This was back when they were across from Detroit City Airport and CC was in what is now called Renaissance High on Outer Drive and Hubbell next to Sinai Hospital.

Back to the subject, I really hope the Tigers take it this year. They've been a little erratic, but if they succumb to Pistons/Red Wings disease in the finals I'm sure they'll grab the gold next year.

Yeah, learned to spell...but vowels cost $250 each on Wheel of Fortune, so I was just trying to save a buck. :D

I hope that they make it this year too, but it is at least nice to see them playing baseball for a reason this late in the season. It will be nice to see baseball in October again in the motor city.

What a game tonight!! Kenny Rogers pitched one of his best games ever. The series definitely isn't over. I know the yankess will give them everything they have tomorrow. I am just excited the Tigers have gotten out of their slump and showing everyone that they deserve to be in the playoffs.

Yes, the Tigers have shown their stuff these last few days. The Yankees won't take it laying down. Tomorrow's game will be exciting, for sure.

I remember when they won the WS in the 80's-I couldn't sleep that night everyone was driving around town honking their horns.

I remember standing on a parking garage top floor at the RenCen at a Chevy (or Ford ?) party at the Detroit GP, looking at Tiger Stadium off in the distance, shoulda gone to a game back then. '84 I think........ Back in the Jack Morris/Alan Trammel/Lou Whittaker days.......

    Congrats Detroit!!!

Thank you for turning the Filthy Yankees over your collective knee and whipping them till they can't sit down!!

Since my beloved Astros just missed it, I had to go with whomever was against the Filthy Yankees. Good job !

    Congrats to the Tigers!!!!!!!!!!

When the Tigers are on their game, no one can beat them.

Both Kenny Rogers and Jeremy Bonderman did fantastic jobs, was an absolute pleasure to watch.

    Let's go all the way!

I was wondering that myself. They are practicing today, not sure if all the rain will cancel practice or not. Can't wait till the WS starts, that is if the NL ever gets a pennant winner.
