Shelton Ferrari in Ft. Lauderdale did a similar (but slightly more elegant) conversion on a 355 Spider back when they were current- the car was featured in Car & Driver at the time. You might want to contact Shelton and inquire.

That's not a conversion, just some cut lexan and fixed bulbs.

The 348 and 355 share the same pop-up headlights, except that some of the 348 Competizione models have the fixed headlights shown below.

If you wanted the conversion, you could try to obtain the factory (or Michelotto) parts for those 348 Comp models.

Also, it's possible that the fixed headlights on the 512M would work.

Well, they'll certainly light up - the rest is up to you.

The headlight units themselves are worth about $1280 a pair. If your handy enough you could build Flushmount fiberglass headlight buckets for next to nothing. Most difficult part would be getting the correct curvature of the lexan covers.

    Great avatar millemiglia!!! :p

I have a friend who makes motorcycle windshields for a living. I guess its worth a try to ask what he can do something like this for. I have seen his smoked screens too, would work well on a black car (like mine :D). On the others I would guess just paint the inside bucket body color.

c'mon guys, were talking about BOTH here! LOL :) and I thought the Litronic ECU's were bad for my 993TT headlights @ about $700 each. Of course the actual lights are a separate cost! :)

Yep, I think they are about $9000+ from the parts dept if they are available anymore. We're not really trying to sell them to someone to do a conversion, but they will make a 512M owner happy when they have a front hit.
