Chinese GP Practice **spoiler**

Hi guys - Wurz was first in P1 at 1:35.574 followed by Davidson, Button, MS, Jani, Premat, Vettel, Kubica, Ammermuller . . . Kimi was 18th ...Alonso, Fisi, Massa had no times. Michael's time was 1:37.712 with 4 laps.

Apparently grey skies and a sparse crowd greeted the drivers. MS and FA didn't participate in the session until the final minutes. There were several off-track excursions including Kimi who spun at turn 7 with two minutes remaining. (that doesn't look very promising for Ferrari . .) Michael had fastest trap speed of 309 kph.

Anyone see the photos of FA with the mustache and goatee? not very becoming . .

 

Gives him a more sinister appearance. Maybe he's feeling outlawish considering his statements about Formula 1 recently.

He wasn't out in P1 but is out now and in the Number ONE spot - 1.463 ahead of Heidfeld - way to go MASSA !!! Fifty minutes remain adn Kimi, Kubica and Monterio are the only ones who have yet to be on the track.

MS now in second 0:042 behind Massa. FA has 2 laps with no recorded time; GF with 1 lap only two sector times.

Sato will loose 10 places to engine change . . . that should have him starting at -32??

Track declared WET at 14:35 local time. Massa still in first followed by MS and FA. Kimi has 2 laps with no recorded time - just appeared in 18th spot - his team mate is above him in 13th.

Vettel just recorded the fastest S1 time - 25.4 and takes first place. The kid is GOOD. Kimi moves down one to 19th.

Seven minutes remain and most likely FA will make a final ditch effort for P1. Maybe not? Davidson just knocks FA down to 5th. oop's it's now become the Wurz - Vettel show on live timing.

Minute left and caution for Jani.

 

i'm really thinking that it's gonna be a wet wet weekend. the track has lots of straights. keep in mind that renault said they were using the slower, more reliable engine. i think Ferrari's gonna have this..

P2 ends with Wurz on top with a 1:35.539, Vettel second 0.040 back, Davidson third, Massa, MS, FA ---GF was 10 and Kimi 21st.

Practice prior to qualifying is tomorrow night at 11 pm CST with qualifying at 1 am CST. I'm off to Road Atlanta for Petit Le Mans. Hoping for a Risi 1-2 in GT2 and Audi #2 for the overall win and a new record for Allan. Remember that class winners at this race receive automatic invites to the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16-17, 2007. Hoping for a great F1 race too.

i'm personally impressed with frank montagney. this is the second consecutive week where he has placed 7th-8th in practice, while his teammates finish at the very back as usual. the fact they replaced this guy is ridiculous, but they now understand their mistake and are trying to mend it with signing davidson to replace sakon.

 

wow..helluva weekend Carol. i do hope u enjoy urself. and yea, i'm pretty sure Schumi and Co. will be more prepared this time.

 

No argument here about him - he qualified fastest in one of the sessions at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year for Henri Pescarola in LMP1.

Brazilian Felipe Massa's chances in the Chinese Grand Prix have taken a hit after his Ferrari team had to change his engine after practice.

Although he was the quickest of the racing drivers, Massa covered just eight laps in this afternoon's second practice session.

The penalty means Massa will lose ten grid positions in Sunday's race

It's just like a soap opera - first Massa causes Alonso to have 10 spot penalty, now he gets one for himself. Briatore was right - it's scripted

 

Needless to say, FA has a new engine, but can anyone confirm if MS has a new engine as well? I think Monza was the second race of the two for him, right?

 

I think this is MS' second race on the current engine, so he'll get a new one for Japan and then have to run that unit again in Brazil.

That comes with the job of director of the Grand Prix drivers Association, but MS refused to wear it!.
