Only time will tell. The Olympics weren't as kind to Montreal. I don't see it as a total doom and gloom scenario. Some will prosper economically, while others will suffer.

Yeah, something really needs to be done about the druggies. Any other place in the world, they'd be either dead or locked away for a long time. But neither of those are practical. The amount of damages in property crime, still far outweigh the cost to keep them locked away. I've heard crazy theories that they're going to try to ship them all off to Surrey before the Olympics, but I don't believe it.

There are still a lot of people who associate style/taste with money and treat you accordingly if you don't "look wealthy".

I get a big kick out of my son-in-law and the way people treat him until they find out just how much he is worth (to give you an idea: right now, his primary residence is on the market for around $3 million...). He usually dresses like some teenagers (printed t-shorts, floppy pants etc...) Once they find out just how wealthy he is, they kiss his butt...poor suckers!

 

Two different beasts: Winter Olympics are much smaller than the summer games. Calgary with their games is a better comparison than what Montreal went through.

I agree that some always suffer - hope everyone here is on the prosper side.

 

Every time I go into Ferrari Maserati of Vancouver I look like a slob and they treat me like a king.
