Since I'm not a baller like you guys (at least not yet :) ) I have to stick to more affordable cars. So I'm excited that Pontiac is bringing the Commodore over, as a competitor to the vulgar 300C/Charger.

I know many people will scoff, and cite the GTO as an example of this being a bad strategy, but I liked the car for what it was. It was a luxurious GT, not a reincarnation of the ****ty (by todays standards) LeMans based GTO.

I hope it does well, and I would be pleased if they gave it a badge like the "Parisienne"

The new Commodore is said to be a great car. I can't wait to see it here. Give me the 3.6 VVT + 6-speed transmission, would be a great commuter car.

    Pics?

I actually tossed around the idea of picking up a GTO. I've pretty much decided against it. But I actually like them because their so unique and no one has one.

As long as you get an 05 or newer 6-spd, the car is great for the money. The pre-05s have the weaker engine (still strong, though), and the auto is realtively uninspired.

I really think if GM would have put the hood scoops on at launch, dressed up the body kit a little and it would have been a huge hit. The most recent car is a ton of bang for your buck but the depreciation is painful.

    $23,000 bucks for this one....

Its really a buyers market for the GTO. The 04 car has the LS1 which loves spray and with H/C, ported fast 90/90, and bolt ons you can be very close to 500rwhp. the 6.0 LS2 has a 10.9:1 compression ratio so it loves the head/cam as well but I havent seen what it can do on the bottle. Chevy builds some good n/a engines but because of the high compression when adding a blower the limit is about 10lbs of boost.

I love my 2004 GTO. Holden builds a great car. Great fit and finish inside and out for a $30K car.

Far out thats cheap!! US$23,500 is AU$31,500. We get screwed over on our own locally built cars. What a disgrace! A HSV GTO here with around the same mileage(like new in this case) costs us AU$75K+!!! Thats a US$55K!! Unbelieveable! :( Blame the goverment and taxes!! Im moving to the US!! :D

If only the gto came to market with that nose. those freakin bean counters who said "no" to the hood scoops at launch probably said no to that nose.
