Momo Steering Wheel Needs Re-covering

Who can strip off the old leather and re-cover with new leather on my tired, wornout Momo steering wheel which was made in 1988?

 

What style wheel? It may be cheaper to just buy a new one. Since 512TR's were made in 92-93, is this from another Ferrari? There are companies that can recover them, but it is very expensive:

This is the wheel pictured below. I bought it from Ebay and the leather stinks of cigarettes, it has lost the shine and every time you polish it black comes off on the cleaning cloth regardless of what polish is being used. How much would it cost me to re-cover?

I once had my MOMO steering wheel recovered by a Shoe repair shop, they haved all diff kinds of leather and color, they work great, its been 10 plus years for mine and still looks great. So you might want to try them.

 

I have a friend that owns an Auto-upholtsery retrimming workshop. He does it all the time. Just as good as factory leather covering.

Will do mate. Ive never asked him what he charges, but I have seen his work and its really good. I havent seen him for a few months, but ill swing past his workshop next days off and ill ask him for ya. I go back to work tomorrow for 4 days. Such a hard life.

My 77 leather cover has lost some of the stitching and apears to have shrunk a bit, (probably from massively exceeding the speed limit), so it needs a bit of repair. There is dime size piece missing from the bottom where the leather was joined, so i think it needs recovering.

I am still looking for a wheel recovering. I recently saw a few momo wheels that said they were recovered by the factory. Does anyone know about this??????

Huh,
Stinks like cigarets.
I would clean it with GrowCo Wax and grease remover.
Spray paint that leather with SEM flexible gloss black.
Let dry.
Wax with black shoe polish.

Done.
Smile.
Drive.

I tried pretty hard to get through to someone at MOMO to do just this. I was told repeatedly - "No. The reason is the plant is too large to keep track of one steering wheel assy." They are just not interested - period. I also tried Pirelli to make some good 14" tires for 308 fans. I heard there is a special prototype division at Pirelli. Anyway, that got shut down much quicker.

On Youtube, there's a vid of a shop called Cook's who has this Italian system to re-do leather. It takes many steps, and the wheel looks really - really nice on the video. I still prefer fresh MOMO leather too. Re-Originals sent me a pix of their re-cover job done in Italy. Looks flipp'n perfect like all re-original stuff typically does; BUT, I think it was $800!

 

I just did the Leatherique redye. It worked very well.
