What do you guys think should happen to the Titan who pulled the helmet off and then stomped on the head of the Dallas center? It took over 30 stitches to sew him up after the incident. Some of the commentators think he will only get a one game suspension and a large fine.

I think castration should be in order.......................and a revocation of his contract........................and suspension for the remainder of the year.

If it had happened by accident, okay but it was absolutely deliberate and came very close to the eye. Major consequences should be received for doing such a thing. But that is just my opinion. What is yours?????????

Well, I might be being just slightly harsh here. You can leave off the castration and revocaton of his contract but a full suspension for the remainder of this year should be in order, coupled with a hefty fine. And it should be done by the team owner and not have to be forced by the NFL. It will really put a bad spot on the reputation of the franchise if they do not respond appropriately.

Will probably be considered assault and charges would be filed.

NFL-wise, minimum of remainder-of-season suspension IMO.

absolutely, if that had happened on the street, he would have been arrested for assault.
He should be banned for the entire year and post season, although making the playoffs isn't likely.

    Answered my own question:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2609563

This guy should be suspened for the remainder of the season without pay in addition to a heavy fine. In all my years of playing football & other sports, I have NEVER seen anything like this. What a shame. I am just thankful he did not end the guys career by taking one of his eyes out.

NFL gave him 5 game suspension. I did not hear anything about a fine. The Nashville police will charge him with assault if the Dallas center will file charges. Otherwise, he just gets the NFL penalties. I wonder what about the team coach and owner giving him financial penalties above what the NFL does. He certainly put a bad light on the Titans.

    Had no idea.

That is completely uncalled for! He should be banned indefinately from the NFL and all earnings this season be revoked and then sent to jail. It is absurd he did that. I would consider cleats a weapon when used in the manner it was.

I hope the backlash is strong enough that the Titans suspend him for the rest of the season on their own, as unlikely as I know that is. If that is how well he controls his temper in front of thousands of people and on national TV, I sure hate to see what his temper is like in the confines of his house.

I remember years ago when a GB Packer picked up McMan (sp) on the Bears and threw him to the ground after a play had ended busting up his throwing shoulder. Ended his career for all intents. I'm a Packer fan but think a lawsuit was in order.

five games and no fine, what a joke. I knew the nfl would puss out, so much for the new commish, what a puss. It should have been for the entire year to send a once and for all message....guess not-

Pretty weak. And the Dallas player probably won't want to look like a wuss and press charges, so he will get off pretty easy.

Not so sure how "unlikely" it is that the Titans' penalties won't be harsh. I heard that not only did their coach promise a stiff punishment, but the owner of the Titans promised that this behaviour would not go unchecked.

I think he is out for the season. If the Eagles can bench TO for his "antics", surely the Titans can bench this guy for assault.

Don't forget such wonderful things as players unions. They would probably say if its good enough for the NFL, it should be good enough for the team.

I watched the interview with the coach. He did say that he felt the penalty given out by the NFL is sufficient. So much for him saying that he would deal with it even if the NFL did not.

Heard a sports commentator state that according to "Stomper's" contract, a 5 game no-pay penalty will cost him about $500,000 in income loss. I think total loss for the rest of the season and jail-time for assault should be more adequate.
