I just got an offer to buy a pair of carbon race seats that are in pretty good condition for my 355. They are even in the perfect color combination which is probably a bit rare considering I have the Bordeaux / black interior.

    My questions for you all

    1. How much was this option in USD when the car was new?
    2. How much about do you think they are worth now?
    3. Does this add any value to the car?
    4. Any idea how much a set of 4 point harnesses would run for this?

Thanks all in advance. I've done some searching on this forum but haven't found anything to date.

If they are put in a berlinetta or gts, I think they would add to it. On a spider I like the stock seats the best!

Are the seats similar to the ones in the 348 Serie Speciale covered in leather or are they similar to the red OMP 355 Challenge seats? I have no idea what the 348SS style seats were new but the OMP 355 Challenge Carbon seats are typically $1700-1900 each new. I just priced them for my car and opted for the fiberglas versions which were $659 each but they are the same style used on the 355 Challenge cars. The belts are made by OMP and I doubt you will find a 4-point setup, I had to go with a 6-point and they ran $299/set. You will also need to have eye-bolts mounted through your chassis, one for the sub-belt beneath your seat and one on either side of each seat. You will also need a cross brace mounted behind the seats for the shoulder harnesses to attach to. The OEM black belts come out entirely, not a big job. If you are doing the OMP seats, the center console must be removed to get at the sensors for the seatbelts and to have room to get at the side mounting bolts. I don't know if the 348SS style seats bolt directly to the same adjustable seat rails but for the OMP seats, you will need new rails and L-shaped side/upright brackets which will run about $389/set. These are not adjustable via a slide mechanism so when you install them, you want to be sitting in the seat and get it lined up with the correct mounting holes. I doubt adding the OMP seats increases the value of the car but if you found a set of the leather, carbon seats, it would certainly be a plus but definitely keep the OEM seats to return the car to stock if needed.

I have factory carbon seats in mine. They are about $8500 each from Ricambi. I love them, they look fantastic, but they are firm and snug. Some people will not think them comfortable.

I have an original factory set in mine (red inserts). Fantasic form and function....if you like to 'feel' the car on the road. Long drives are great as well...no sore back.

If you'd like photos let me know and I'll post some up.

NOTE: They will add value to the car, only if the buyer truly understands the value the seats add to the Ferrari driving experience.....

2: You can get non-Ferrari for 1/3 the price or maybe less. Not sure what they are worth on the market, but you'll pry mine out of my cold dead hands.
3: No, maybe the contrary. I have heard the dealers do not like them because it eliminates some people who might be interested in the car (ie people with big bums). But if you have stock seats too, that would be a plus. Especially if they are preserved in storage somewhere...

You would have a hard time finding seats to exactly match your current interior. I guess all black would work? Mine have red inserts, most I have seen are colored to match the car (yellow, blue, etc).

    Good luck in your search!

I have the invoice for my 1999 355f1 and it shows in lira 3,400,000 for the seats - hope this helps, my wife and I are very comfortable in them but they are not for everyone, suggest you try them first to make sure you are o.k.

I did my best to find a conversion factor for this - According to Wikipedia the conversion factor for all Lira transfered to Euro (in 1999) was 1936.27:1. that makes 1,756 Euro or $2,227 based on today's rate...

Sounds VERY far off from the Ricambi price... We'll see if anyone else knows more.

In Canada, I've seen these factory seats go for as much as $9000 Canadian for a pair. Like I said in another thread....they are RARE!

    Racer17,

what`s the weight of one of your original carbon seats ?

The weight of a stock leather seat from a F355 is about 19 kg.

I am not sure what these weigh, but the CF Serie Specialle seats in my 348 are around 10 pounds each, compared to about 50 for the stock seats.

Ive got Carbon seats in black with Yellow inserts and they look fantastic aswell and really are comfortable and add to the driving experience especially when cornering hard -although makes getting in and out a bit more difficult
