wah lau oi! where to start? U cannot compare the two cars interms of handling. I thought the GS was a great handling car until i drove the F430. The GS is fast. 5.0 sec 0 to 100kmh. Very smooth thru the gear changes... 180ms per shift. The GS handles very well. It corners with only a slight lean. I think the 19inch rims and the lowered suspension (over the 4200) helps. The brakes are great. Sepang 05 track day, the brakes never faded. Traction control is very useful given the torque on the car. On track and with the rite driver a GS can take on a 360. There was no mechanical problems on the car during my ownership. The F430 is the best car I have ever driven. Acceleration is lighting quick, handling is amazing. Try driving up Shears Bridge from Rochor Rd at 130kmh... no problem...the car just grips and corners the bend like on rails. Gear changing is better than the GS.. 150ms. The exhaust note on both cars is very different. The GS has a lower and fuller note, while the F430 has a much higher and thinner pitch. I prefer the GS exhaust. The build quality is excellent on both. I never had a problem with the GS. Neither has the Ferrari every had a bad day. I use to have a kick ass sound system in the GS, subwoofer and all. Great for day to day driving. I hardly every turn on the sound system in the ferrari for obvious reasons...the engine is too loud...but so so nice. Pleasure per $?? I never count. After 4 Maserati and 5 Ferraris ...they all gave me great pleasure at different points in my life.
Thanks for the comparo. With regards to the exhaust note, does the tubi help give F430 a lower and fuller note at low revs + higher and thinner pitch at higher revs...best of both worlds? The F430 has its own symphony orchestra...no need for supplements. I'll be getting mine soon....simply can't wait.
Only the Tubi GTC will give u a lower and fuller note at idle and will scream high pitch above 4000 rpm. The normal Tubi... well doesn't really do much to the exhaust note. Still weak in my opinion.
I thought Dean sold his SL55 for the new 997 Turbo?? He has always been a huge fan of the Porsche Turbo.
Oh Yes... in fact...it was a toss up between the 2 this time round. But because Hong Seh supported me (yup not the other way around) all these years I bot the Ferrari. It was a close call...very close. I won't be suprised if I did get a Lambo Spyder one of these days
hmm.. did he.. i am not too sure about that. well. . i knew he had a few 911's before the SL55.. guess.. he needs a 911 to get the chicks.. hee hee.
I don't know about "mint" condition, but a normal usage 2.5yr SL55 would go for around $350k+/-. I could be wrong though.
I would go for both. SL55 as a daily driver and Gallardo as a 2nd car. BUT if I had to choose one? I would have to ask if it was my primary or secondary car. Then decide from there.
Yeah.. i know what you mean.. well. .if melvin has any good offers on the Gallardo. maybe. but its only next year.. so i guess.. i better start saving,.. have a great day Lung
I guess with Bernie annoucing that South Korea will host an F1 race from 2010, Singapore's hopes went up in tyre smoke. If you haven't seen it .. "South Korea is to host a Formula One grand prix from 2010. Bernie Ecclestone, the sports commercial promoter, and Park Joon-Yung, governor of the South Cholla province, reached an agreement that will see the south-east Asian country host an annual World Championship race in Yongam county until 2016. The contract also has an option to extend the competition for five years, according to The Korea Times. A track will now be built in the province, with a completion date scheduled for 2009. It will host its first race in October the following year. The track will be constructed by the Korea Auto Valley Operation, a joint venture between South Cholla province and the Korean F1 promoter M-Bridge Holdings at a cost of around £140 million. The decision stems from Ecclestones drive to secure new markets for the sport."
What is so good about this car wash. I saw a Red Malaysian plate Lambo Countach there two weeks ago, two Murcies and a number of Ferraris over the past few weeks. Seems like they should set up an exotics spotters window with free flow coffee and a $10 cover charge.
For those of you interested, I just had a stone chip in windscreen fixed (after picking it up a chip whilst in KL for the HSM Sepang w.e) & I have to admit I'm quite impressed. I can't even see where the chip was. If anyone needs the service I thoroughly recommend Ng at EGlass .. 9008 4735 or [email protected] A bit of free advertising for him but I rekon he deserves it.

I am interested in getting a copy of the track times for the Ferraris and Maseratis from the HS Sepang track day. I want to see how these times compare with the classic cars I race against. Do any of you have a copy? FF
Alamak, if you do get it. Please keep my results between us, think I hit more than 3mins for sure. Maybe ET has it. BTW, your round tailights look very nice from far, something I've not have so far. Thanks for the contact Derek, I need to fix those tiny chips on the screen as well.
Thanks for the review Lung. Haven't had a spin @ the track on your 430 huh? Sighhh I was just a few mins late in your G'sport purchase, didn't know you have ICE treatment then but bet you probably transferred to your Legend. Anyway, no regret on the TR so far. Just paid a visit to Lambo this morning. The new LP640 in pearl yellow is here & it is beautiful......didn't remember anyone mentioning it now has a glass back as well to view the great V12. I like the new tailights, double "Y"s in LED & the air-intakes & exhaust improved dramatically. Oh, & the cabin.....If I have the money, I would buy that without even a testdrive! This is the kind of looks that a supercar must possess & I'm possessed because few hours later I'm still thinking about it. Looks like I must set a target for a Lambo before I reach 40! Err but before that, a house with a big porch is a must. Now where can we find that kind of money.... Just heard from my client working in Dubai. His friend went for a testdrive in a Ferrari around town & by the time he returned to the showroom, he was going to consider it but then the manager came over & said it's sold! The buyer happened to see it in the street earlier & like what he saw. Well well. The ponytailed guy & team there takes special care of exotics. I hear some owners even put him on their insurance so he can valet & detail it. Think it was S$14 for a full wash, chemical wash for rims & tyre shine+vaccum. Looks like I missed the Countach
Problem is there's only one way there now=via the Stevens road exit from PIE towards Jurong as the old Shell is closed for renovation.
I think Autobahn has an SL55 for sale & if you poke around Cycle, I'm sure there's more. Might be nearer to $400K for an '03/4, I was a big fan of SLs & AMG but not anymore, not sure why but for me, a 6 series looks better. Especially one with bodykit & upgraded exhaust. M6 will be another animal. Saw one M6 convertible along Delta Rd last week, not sure if that's the real deal but it had the vents on the wheel arch other than the different bumpers, four pipes & badge.
