Crystal Cove will be history soon but I don't think that will stop supercars gathering. As long as the enthusiasm is still there, there'll be a way. Instead of whining about it, let's talk where to meet...

Where will the next Crystal Cove be...??? Where will you guys gather...??? Any plan...???

If there's a wheel, there's a way and a place to go to.

perhaps we could revive the carlsbad outlet mall meet, its a huge parking lot, theres a Starbucks and a Rubys Diner and nothing else open until 10am.

Too far south. We need something that's in Newport, Huntington Beach, Corona Del Mar etc. I'm sure Barry Meguiar or a heavy hitter might have some ideas. The best thing is private property that belongs to a car guy. Even if it requires participants coughing up for some insurance.

IMO I think Irvine Co. would cave in with the right kind of pressure. Let's get Nicholas Cage out there with a megaphone over the next two weekends. ;)

why is it too far? why does the OC get to have all of the fun? its not like a good chunk of those attending CC werent from SD? And the show was killer at Cbad but eventually it got to the point where it just couldnt compete with CC, but if CC is going away, then it can get even bigger than CC ever has been. I dont care where it is, I was just throwing something out there.

    AND.....

The outlet mall is huge with tons of parking so it will never take away from any customer parking especially if everyone is gone by 10am.

This is sort of a good point. Would be pretty impressive if we were to get the support of some of the big names that have shown up there....

doubt it willmove to carlsbad to far for a drive for most of the people especially for some of the people coming from los angeles
oc is almosta mid point between the two going farther south willmake it ahrder for l.a. based people to go.. it ether has to be kept in NB or head a bit north but still stay near the the NB, irvine area..

cc was good but it got commercialized time to go soemwhere else gone were the days of the real enthusiats now it jsuta spectable for faux car lovers imo..

this is good imo it will weed out the non car people going there adn bring back the guys who are really passionate about the cars

IMO, the gathering needs to stay in Newport to be the same. It shouldn't be a "show."
If the meeting place is relocated too far, i predict a large decline in the quality of cars that will show up.

Why not everyone go to the pay parking at the beach, nice view and shops and no one can say sh t for being there; since you paid to be there. Price for parking would be like a car show registration but cheaper. I say let's go to Hunting Beach off of main street.

i dont care paying like 5 bucks each time if it gets moved to a pay lot. heck, lets be honest, seeing all those cars at CC for free was too good to be true

I say lower Big Corona parking lot, in CDM. I don't think it cost any money, and its VERY spacious.

Like a few people have been saying, show up at 9 A.M. and get some coffee or breakfast. How are they going to hassle a group of customers meeting at CC in order to enjoy some coffee. If they do hassle us, then I guess they would hassle me and my Dad when we meet there occasionally on Sundays to get some coffee. If this is the case, they should put up a sign that says "Only individual, lonely people allowed into this shopping center, no talking or friendly gestures allowed, two or more people seen meeting or talking will be escorted off the property by armed guard."

We need to be rational here and just show up when they open the lot and enter as customers, like everybody else does in ther minivans and Camrys.

Just sounds like the Irvine Company is scared and is formaly releasing themselves from liability on paper. That just takes care of it on their end. It doesn't mean we don't have to stop visiting as customers at 9 A.M.

THIS ISN'T GOING TO WORK EITHER AS IRVINE CO. OWNS IT TOO! Irvine Co. does not want the liability, period. That's the real reason why they are doing this. Any organized event on one of their properties will quickly get squashed like they're doing to CC.

well if history has taught us anything, then YES! we run the risk of being arrested, harrased or ticketed. the guise of 'going in for a bite' is thin and we all know it. it's a technacality. the police are only going to do thier job that the city asked them to do. and who pushed the city? BINGO! the irvine co.

will the charge stick? most likely not and that's not the point. they'll hassle us until we give up, that's the point. we'll be playing the passive agressive card.

i can imagine it now, play it out with non-violent rallies and protests. drag it on as long as the irvine co wants to play it out and it'll end up in history books 30yrs from now as the 'great ferrari sit-in' our grand kids will ask us if we were there. only in OC would this play out....we are a strange city.

Ricky & Ronnie's in Torrance is always an option. This is the venue that many of the car commercials and TV shows are being filmed at (Daimler and Motor Trend to name a couple). Friday nights is reserved for the regulars (oldies and musclecars) and Saturday morning can be for exotics and euros. The owners are real car people and they would probably welcome all of us.

If you guys want to pursue this route, I can talk to the owners... by the way this is in a predominantly commercial area so we won't be getting many complaints from the residences.

Being that I dont know that many of the people here I'm not too sure but it seemed to me that most of the guys showing up to show their cars were local to Newport, if we move away from that wouldn't those guys stop coming for the most part?

Since I don't come in here as often as I'd like this is the first I've read of CC being done......not sure why yet, but it's really too bad, coming from UT and never having anything like CC and VCR I think these gatherings are AMAZING and it's too bad that this one is coming to an end for whatever the reason may be.
