We should find the guying selling those ding strips and tell him how we really feel; guys like him made a big difference and gave the irvine company a reason to shut us out.

You are so right about this, if we do get them to keep the show, they will do everything and anything to find a little excuse to get us to shut down. I had almost identical experience a year ago, I was wrongfully terminated from a job, and I took it to the labor board, but they told me I could go back to work at the employer, but if I did, the labor board said they would find the tinest excuse to write you up, same goes for here, one little thing, and bam, we are done. Best to find a new place, and show them what mistake they made letting us go.

Even if we get rid of him, someone else will come along with another product

Let it go....... The guys who started it moved a few miles south due to the size / change of the gathering.
Maybe the Dana Point Harbor would give up a lot for a few hours on Sat.?
Not much going on from 7am - 9am Sat & Sun.
Crystal cove was OK, but face it, it was just a semi fancy strip mall/shopping center/ parking lot.

I say we call this an opportunity for improvement. Screw the Irvine Co. and CC parking lot. With the caliber of cars that show up, you would think we could do much better than a strip mall................

    Food for thought...........

There's always Euro Sunday at Village Coffee Roaster in Calabasas each Sunday. We have an average of 300+ exotics showing up regularly on the last Sunday of each month, otherwise 100+ on regular Sundays.

Always room for a couple of hundred more. You're welcome to join us.

Actually, as an alternative, there is Crystal Cove "proper" (the state park that is open at 6am but charges for parking). Across the street, better view, just a slight walk for coffee

You're kidding! That old POS place has been there forever and a day. I can't believe the owners finally sold out and it's now a Ruby's.

Well boys, this is it, I am coming down and bringing a car nut, and she's hot. She'll be really bummed that it is closing down because she wants to attend all the time and it took me to beg her to come. Find a new place STAT! Don't do it for me guys, do it for her, and all the other hot car-girls that have no place to be on a Saturday morning other than my loft. :(

Look for the white Gallardo SE ;)

i like that idea and i'm sure that state would love the income, i think it's $20 for the day. so they'd make some serious $$$$ every month. and the irvine co would get $0.

and forcing the tenants to stay closed while were there would seem to be a violation of thier lease. wonder if starbucks being as large as they are would get pushy over loosing that morning crowd if we moved across the street.

and as always we still have to manage with the few who decide to ruin it, although i'd suspect the parking fee would keep most away. and yes you save by buying a parking pass for the year.

    something to consider....great views too.

something about sandblasting the cars though, makes it not so attractive. "Hey Armen, hope you don't mind the barnacles on your Enzo" ;)

accutually the beach sits below by quite the distance, it's cliff face along that area. yes there is sand around but it's not huntington. it's an option, better than nothing.

here's a link for the park, caution as its a big site and takes a bit to load.

Great - we can still keep CC going. It just starts at 9am instead of 6am now.

Yah, I spoke to Bill Rams (no help he is companies spokeperson) and spoke to the president of the CC plaza. I asked what would happen if like rick said, we decide to go drink coffee at starbucks or eat at Pacific Whey and happen to bring a Ferrari or Lamborghini, and she never answer question, just kept refering to "you guys have out grown what we can handle"

    They don't want us
Probley best to move else where

There is one option I'm investigating. The NEWPORT DUNES which is a huge marina/rv park is located at Jamboree and PCH. They have an immense parking lot. The Back Bay Cafe (BBC) which is at the launch ramp side opens at 7am for breakfast and coffee. The only problem is the paid access. It's $10 per car to get in BUT you can get a two hour validation (free) if you eat/drink at the BBC. I'm checking to see if there is something that could be done there.

Unfortunately, what made CC so successful was the combination of many factors including its location. It simply wouldn't have the same feel and atmosphere if it were in any old parking lot regardless if there was a Starbucks or not. The view, the ocean, the openess, etc. all contributed to its success. The Newport Dunes is nice because it has some of the atmoshpere (ie. near the water) and remains within the boundaries of the "upscale" community.

The problem is the paid parking lot. Not sure if that is a hurdle that can easily be surpassed ...

For someone that has been attending CC religiously for the past 3 years, it hurts to see such a great community event of car enthusiasts get cut off so abruptly. I know we've seen this coming for some time now, but it's still tough to let go of a regular part of my Saturday mornings.

A friend mentioned that perhaps we should all NOT show up on the 14th as a sign of our disgust towards the Irvine Co or wear black the last 2 Saturdays...any other suggestions or are we just beating a dead horse?

Hmm, I just called Starbucks and starting 10/21 their not allowing them to open till 9AM until further notice. Sounds like they'll do that for a while to shake people off. So it looks like the whole shopping center won't open till 9:00 AM probably on Saturdays anyway. Zig Heil, Ivine Co.!

I'm telling ya, we all just show up at 9am. As Rick said, we're patrons - not loiterers. This is even better - they'll never get rid of us! How many friggin' people go shopping at Williams Sonoma at 9am anyway?
