Anybody else catch the brief story on CNN? Ran at 5 before the hour. In a nutshell - it ran after a little freaturette about anticpation of shortage of the new Tickle Me Elmo - as sort of a counterpoint with a twist. Tickle Me Elmo is less pricey, but unavailable. Custom cars are pricey, but available to those with the means. Much of the topic centered around what was described as a holographic image of the P4/5 owner - whom was further described as a New York Money Manager - but we all know to be our very own 'Napolis - and how the interior was shaped for comfort, while keeping a bit more than usual within reach. One of the commentators suggested money would have been better spent donating 3.5 mil to charity. What makes her think he doesn't donate to charity as it is? Regardless, she should be shot, as she is clearly not a car person.
How little she knows..the money WAS donated to charity..for the FChat community and the car community in general!
A nearly one minute segment ran on our local (West Palm) news about the P4/5 the other day, showed the "car" on the turn table in Paris, even got the car's basis correct. To my surprise they even pronounced Pininfarina correctly.
The tramp should keep her little mouth shot, instead of telling others how they should spent their money. She can donate her paycheck if it's such a big deal to her. For all she know, he could be donating 10mill. dollars a year. The ignorance of some people.
Sometimes it surprises me as to who they choose to represent the news station for different subjects. I highly doubt that there are no car enthusiasts at CNN who know something about the car, and could have represented it more from the heart than someone using a que card, so why use her? Peter Hatch
Whats really sad and stupid is that CNN a reputed News Station would say something like that. My Family Foundation has given to thousands of worthwhile charities much more money than all of my cars ever cost.
A Google search on Glickenhaus Foundation returns 10,600 entries. I'd say that's proof enough of significant charitable work. Certainly, the anchor didn't do her homework. Her reaction was natural for a non-enthusiast viewing what appears to be extreme excess. JUst because she doesn't view P4/5 as art the way F-Chatters do doesn't make her an idiot, but her lack of restraint and research do.
I think each one could be done what he wanted with his money, because is his money and he earned with his work. i see that the news station as the same in all of the countrys. Pablo.
That is indeed a pretty sad remark. But then you turn and take a look at the car and and you are instantly reminded there is so much beauty in the world, and all is well again...... In that sense, having the P4/5 created at your own expenses is a very true act of charity for all us carguys (and gals)
As long as they spell it correctly, I suppose.....*sigh* They really should do a little more research but fact checking these days is a rare thing... I think Tina's thread showed far more, what kind of person we all know here... When Mr. G reaches his arms out, he can touch all the way around the world..
Clearly the inate ignorange towards Jim and his organization is directly related to the fact that news reporters havent the faintest clue of the total significance of all that he has done. Automotive and otherwise. *Props to ya' Jim!* -Jon
CNN has been retarded for a long time. The "news" person was extremely sloppy, she could have done a lot more homework before babbling senselessly on air Some pinheads just dont understand art & culture, Thats why we have Monster truck racing & World Wrestling for them
You can tell that these guys are atleast somewhat car guys because the first quesitons they had are the weather conditions and insurance.
Sounds like CNN was just jealous of the P4/5. I wonder if she drives a pos and donates the difference to charity. Probably not. If I had the money, you bet I would have my own custom car. And maybe one day I will. If so, I hope it turns out half as good as the P4/5.
Funny story: I was just in the dorm which I work in, talking to the security guard. Started talking about cars, etc. and he mentioned seeing "this car custom built for some billionaire from NY, guess how much it is worth..." so I obviously knew what car he was talking about and gave him the whole story on it.
Whats really sad and stupid is that CNN a reputed News Station would say something like that. Reputed? Wake up and see the lies. Come on now, everyone knows CNN has a left wing anti american agenda. PROGDA would be very proud. They don't care about the facts at all.
