After Michael and the Scuderia's near perfect race on Sunday, Alonso and Flavio could not find anything to blame on Ferrari, so it seems now that Alonso now is trying to blame his own team on his failure to land the top spot.

Outraged by the bungled pit-stops that enabled title rival Michael Schumacher to claim victory last weekend in China, Alonso complained: "The whole team is gutted, apart from the handful of people who don't want me to take No1 to McLaren. They are not helping me as much as they could."

Today Renault have realeased a statement denouncing Fernando Alonso's claim that team members are deliberately sabotaging his world title bid because he is leaving for McLaren, while Michael Schumacher's odds of winning the championship have reduced to 1.53.

"The team is 150 per cent behind Fernando in his battle for the championship and there is no question of our commitment flagging," it read. "The points situation is so tight that to win the constructors' championship you've got to be sure of winning the drivers' championship and vice versa.

"We have worked flat out since Monza on engine development to ensure that we keep our competitive edge through to the last race of the season in Brazil. In addition Giancarlo [Fisichella] drove purely for the team at Shanghai on Sunday, finishing third behind Fernando. There is no problem at all with the relations between him and the team."

Michelin dominated Suzuka last year, with Alonso's over taking manoevure on Michael around the outside of 130R the highlight of the race. Rain is forecast again this year, but with Ferrari's edge over the second half of the season, and Alonso blaming everyone but himself, this should be a little closer.

I can't wait, and we are definately guarenteed a championship decider in Brazil, no matter what the outcome is in Japan. Is anyone going to Brazil? Four friends and I are travelling over from Ireland for a week, and if anyone else will be there it would be great to meet up and, hopefully, celebrate Ferrari's win.

I think it's true to say that for a French manufacturer (Renault in this instance), the constructors championship has priority over the drivers championship. It has always been like that in the eyes of the French public.

So, I guess Renault is admitting to the obvious; that they told Fisichella to slow down and let Alonso go by.
