Lysol, cornstarch, baking soda... not really handling it. Nice NB's in otherwise good condition I'd rather not throw away if I can conquer the odor.

Have you tried airing them outside? Sometimes a little fresh air and sunshine are the best solution.

Get another pair that are identical and rotate use. Tennis shoes (sneakers) should be treated just like dress shoes and not worn two days in a row.

To get rid of the orors that are there now, the washing machine should do the trick...and brighten up the dingy outsides at the same time. You will probably get best results by letting them air dry after the washing machine. You can also try spraying the inside of the shoes with a strong oxidizer like peroxide or bleach (this may cause bleaching of the colors of the material in the shoe). Once you get the stink out, rotate your shoe usage, try a little Febreeze and or baking soda every now and then and you should remain foot odor free.

I've heard that putting them in the freezer overnight will kill all the germs that cause the odor. Never tried it though.

Germs can be frozen for thousands of years and come back.

Heat works better; the furnace over night should do it.

Is it just this pair of shoes, or do your feet stink as well?

Pitted keratolysis is a common cause of rank feet (and therefor rank shoes).

If your feet can clear a room without the shoes, drop me a PM.

If your feet don't stink--pull out the insoles and let them bake in the sun for several days (heat kills bugs, ultraviolet light plus heat kills bugs better). Consider the same for the shoes, plus spray with Lysol or some other surface bug killer.

Rotating shoes is a good idea

And it is Bromohydrosis--which is a very rare diagnosis.

Have you tried taking out the insole (the cushion part wear the bottom of your foot is) and just washing those?

My NB 991s were stinking after I didn't wear socks and did some yard work with them, rinsed the shoe and washed the insole and it was netural smelling after it dried.
