JPM led the first lap and still leads on lap 4.
50-53 second laps, but I don't know how many. I'm looking at www.racingone.com . It just updates every 60 seconds. I have to go out to dinner.
I hope he does well in NASCAR or any other racing series that he may become involved in, just to prove once and for all that Formula 1 racing is the most difficult to master and the greatest of all Motorsport.
I don't think that would really prove the case. If JV goes into Nextel Cup, he'll prove it's easier to win a driver's championship in F1.
You are right Al. Two different forms of motorsports, nothing gets proven. And ARCA is to Nextel Cup, as F3 is to F1. But when it comes to Nextel Cup, I think JPM will be eaten alive. When he gets to Martinsville, or Bristol, it will be initiation time.
That would be true if JV had won his F1 WDC the same year he won the Nextel Cup, not 10 years later after he won his F1 WDC and pretty much been a non-factor in F1 since 1997. JV won F1 with a superior package as oppose to Mansell who won his CART title in a spec. series. Plus, JV took two years and Mansell won his title immediately following his F1 WDC year.
It's not live timing. Just a line or two about the current standings are given every minute or so. Scroll down: http://www.racingone.com/article.aspx?artnum=31495
HUH???? The race has been "called as darkness approaches." Montoya finished 3rd!!! Woohoo, PODIUM BABY!
Yes, only called short by about 13 laps so he could've moved up a little, maybe, but still a very good debut.
Woo Hoo, go Juan. Quite a result being thrown into the deep end. For the fortune tellers, only time will tell.
Cool, I am happy for Montoya. Never thought it would take him to leave F1 for me to be his fan Edit: OK, I watched 10 laps of the current race, Montoya is in 13th place, I can't watch anymore, there is just nothing interesting in this oval racing for me. Is it because I do not understand the left turns?
I certainly wouldn't classify him as a loser just cuz this feeder series only recognizes the winner. If the idiot in #11 wouldn't have pulled that bone-head move I think Juan may have had it in the bag. But for his first outing this is wonderful. Like Tony, it takes another form of automobile racing for me to become his fan. Chip Ganassi has a fantastic team - best out there - so perhaps next time he'll be in the winner's circle. Go Juan! Carol
Very well stated as usual Carol, couldn't agree more with your assesment. Hopefully he will have a bit of fun in 07 and come back to F1 in 08.
God job by JPM on his stock car debut. A Cliff notes version for those who missed it ... Montoya finished 3rd. Good drive from him. He started from the front row, took the lead right from the get-go and led for about 9 laps. He fell back a bit a little later and then was hit on the side by another driver. This prompted him to go to the pits early - this caused a penalty causing him to end up back of the grid. He fought his way from the back all the way to second. He was just passed by another guy minutes just before they stopped the race as it was getting too dark to race. Dunno why the race officials didnt start the race a bit earlier if they were worried about the dark Anyway good job by him. He said he had a lot of fun and was learning a lot during the race.
I must appologise, but after all that was said and done in his career in F1, I think this is the funniest thing I have read or heard anywhere in days.
