I did so enjoy Urotrash's thread of the same name I thought I'd share the fun I am about to have with my personal scammer, David.

    This was his opening letter.....

    Good Day,
am interested in buying your 1963 250 GTO, give me your lowest price if it's still for sell. Looking forward hearing from you soon.

    I RESPONDED:

I have a hard time taking your inquiry seriously. You know little about the car and only are concerned with price. Maybe you could tell me what is wrong with the price.

Otherwise I will wait for a serious buyer.

    Wes

    HE RESPONDED:

    Hi,
I only want you to give me your lowest price simple because am interested in buying it. Even my wife and kids can't to see the car when i told them about it. can't wait to hear from you with your lowest price and the present condition.
    David.

I RESPONDED with a longer letter and pictures since I thought he was serious.

    HE RESPONDED:

Thanks for the reply, i was so impressed by the present condition of the CAR which you have stated for me. I will offer you $23,000.00 USD because i'm very much interested in buying it and i can't afford to loose it even my wife and kids right their in hawaii can't wait to see the CAR when i call them and make it known to my wife that i've finally see CAR which i've been looking for the past months.I'm presently in united kingdom for a business trip and i want it to be in my premises in 3 to 4 weeks time that i will be back to hawaii, payment will get to you in means of certified cashier's check by my business associate .
As reagard the shipping, i will be in talk with a freight company for the pick up at your location.I will be looking forward to hear back from you soon .
You can also reach me on this number +447040120909
    David.

I RESPONDED with questions as to whether he really knew how to own such a car. Since he did give a phone # (most scammers won't) I still took him seriously, but the NEXT letter EXPOSED him as the SCAMMER he is.

    HE RESPONDED

Thanks for the detailed information provided on the purchase of your CAR.You don't have to worry about me having a mechanic shope or not i will take care of everthing. Hope the CAR is oil changed, serviced and ready to go,Please be advised of the urgency of the transaction, i have discussed with my business associate not long ago regarding payment .They explained that there is no much time left considering the purpose of the CAR and that they have already took more than enough time to release the (check payment).
I will like to inform you that payment will get to you in a certified US bank check of $30,000 with in some days payment made out to cover the expense of the frieght forwarder who will be shipping the CAR to me. So you are required to deduct the cost of your CAR $23,000 simply because i dont want you to sell it to other buyers when payment is received ,kindly send balance of $7,000 to the frieght forwarder via money gramm money transfer for them to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs and also to complete other shipping consignment which i'm having with them.
Upon receiving your payment and balance sent down to the frieght forwarder immediately the freight company will come for inspection and pick up (of Vehicle & signing of title papers), some cosmetic touches and drive to the prepaid shipper .Confirm this and provide me the name to be on the check, address to which the check will be send to and also your phone number. Please get back to me within fews hours of receiving my mail to confirm this and i will provide you. I await your favourable response with the required information for payment delivery asap. Thanks in anticipation of your understanding.
    Kind Regards,
    David.

I RESPONDED (Now knowing who I'm dealing with)

    Dear David:

I am still concerned that you may not know how to take care of the car, but if you are willing to try, then I guess I can't stop you.

Can you tell me more about where the car is heading? I might want to visit it some time. What city in Hawaii? I also require a picture of the house where the car will be. You do have a garage, don't you?

I'm not used to payment arrangements as you've described, but I think I follow the logic.

    Thanks,
    Wes

    HE RESPONDED

    Hi Wes,
Thanks for the uplifthing mail regarding the sale of the car,i can see that you re very much concern on how i'm going to take care of the car,the car will be shipped to honolulu once payment has been received by you.Reciplica is my favourite and i promise you that i've got all what it takes to mentain the car, there's no reason for me purchasing the car if i can't mentain it.I'll be more than happy if you can provide me all information requested by me in the last mail i sent to you in order for my business associate to proceed with your payment on time.Looking forward to receive the address where the check will be sent to,name to be on the check and your phone number.
    David.

    NOW I NEED TO RESPOND

I think I'm gonna now introduce another bidder he has to compete with...........another Scammer!!! :)

Great idea! Try to get them to send you photos with a sign that says "F-chat Rules". Tell them that the first one to send the photo gets the car.

I remember that too, that was priceless.

I think the key will be to have him think he's always "just one more" letter away from sealing the deal.

Now, time to write to David. ;)

    Dear David:

    Thank you for your letter.

I am not as sure about this as I was before. You say this is the kind of car you have been looking for, but can't even spell it. In your last letter you said "Reciplica is my favourite.....", is that supposed to make sense to me? If you really have international business experience how can your english be so bad?

Aside from that, you ask me to accept payment by Certified Bank Draft, but then ask me to send the difference by wire transfer. Why can't you send me payment by wire transfer if you're in such a rush?

    Thank you.
    Wes

I just hope my questions aren't TOO good that I scare him away.

My first point was made so he would see the same "genuine" me as before.
The second point was made to lead him to say "he's already made up the draft" or something,
'cause that's when I pressure him to change the amount on account of another bidder.

Well I guess I scared him away, but no worry, I have a NEW scammer!

    Here's his second letter:

    Hello Dear,
Thanks for your mail, I am more than happy to purchase your 1963 250 GTO, i must buy it because i have already promise my Brother in Hawaii since he demanded for it for his own labour fixing. So i would like you to keep other buyer off the 1963 250 GTO,and consider it sold to me, because i don't want any disapointment to my brother. You are free to deduct extra $50 for keeping the ad for me, so you can deduct out $24,000 from the money, incase you're selling your 1963 250 GTO to buy something else you like and i will come to assist in the shipping, like i said earlier my shipper's can take care of the shipping. As I do not want to stress you for the shipping, so some of my shipper will come to your location and pick up the 1963 250 GTO to it final destination.
Please give the information i have requested inorder for my client to make the payment:

    (1)Cheque payable to name:
    (2)Home Address:
    (3)State:
    (4)Postcode:
    (5)Country:
    (6)Telephone number/mobile phone:

Please send me the following information and a well known business associate of my wife has agreed to make out the payment to you on my behalf from the house balance. Meanwhile she will be sending a check including the shipping fees, So you should be expecting $28,500 by next week. The reason being that i will handle the shipping by myself like i said earlier i will be sending down my shipper to come to your location to pickup the item for me so i want you to hold it for me like you promise. I told my client about it, but he has made me understand that he cannot issue seperate check on a single transaction like this. So i will like you to endeavour like i said i will take care of the shipping so you need not worry about that, as soon as you get the check you just have to cash it and deduct your money, the whole balance can be sent to my shipper i
shall provide you his information inorder for you to do that completely and we will seal up
the transaction as soon as you send my balance. Upon your reply i shall forward your details ahead to my client inorder to mail out the Bank Draft to your ontime and once you get the check please make sure you inform me so that i could provide you all the complete information you need to complete this transaction, i look for your henest reply asap.
Thanks and have a nice day.
    Kenny......

haha, I love how they always call you "dear" and sign "your best friend." You have to wonder if they're seriously trying to scam you or just trying to give you a good laugh. I tried with one this summer but he wouldn't bite on sending me his picture.

You guys have too much time on your hands. A scam is a scam is a scam.

The easiest response: come look at it and make me an offer.

Just give me your best price.

Response: I did. My asking price is MY best price. Now give me YOUR best price.

    The letter I just sent....

    Hi again Kenny,

Thank you for your letter. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner but I have been getting other inquiries about the car as you can understand.

Your offer is awefully quick, but I understand you don't want to lose out on this car. I did not know the car was for your brother. Since it is such a specialty car I think it would be a good idea for him and I to communicate eventually. What is his name? What city in Hawaii does he live in? I would just like to know where my car will end up.

Your letter was rather long, and I understand it for the most part, but your comment "....since he (your Brother) demanded for it for his own labour fixing". I'm sorry, but what does this mean? The car needs no fixing.

I am curious why your brother doesn't just handle the purchase for himself. How old is he? Is he not smart enough for this transaction? I want to sell my car to a smart person as you can understand, since I put a lot of work into it.

I look forward to your reply.

    Love,
    Wes

    How about this

    Hello Dear,

My name is Derek Trotter and I am an artist. I live in England, with my two kids,
one dog and the love of my life. It is definitely a full house, I have been doing
artwork since I was a small child when I was in Canada were I took interest in arts
that gives me about 23 years of experience.

I majored in art in high school and took a few college art courses. Most of my work
is done in either pencil or airbrush mixed with color pencils. I have recently added
designing and creating artwork on the computer. I have been selling my art for the
last 4 to 5 years and have had my work featured on trading cards, prints and in
    magazines.

I have sold in galleries, museums and to private collectors from all around the
world. I am always facing serious difficulties when it comes to selling my art works
to Americans; they are always offering to pay with a US POSTAL MONEY ORDER, which is
difficult for me to cash here in England.

I am looking for a representative in the states who will be working for me as a
partime worker and I am willing to pay for every transaction, which wouldn't affect
our present state of work, someone who would help me receive payments from my
customers in the states. I mean someone that is responsible and reliable, because
the cost of coming to the state and getting payments is very expensive, I am working
on setting up a branch in the state, and so for now I need a representative in the
united state who will be handling the payment aspect.

These payments are in money order and they would come to you in your name, so all
you need do is cash the money order deduct your percentage and wire the rest back.
But the problem I have is trust, but I have my way of getting anyone that gets away
with our money, I mean the FBI branch in Washington gets involve.

It wouldn't cost u any amount you are to receive payments which will be sent to u by
fedex or usps from my business partners, which would come in form of a money order
then u are to cash it and send the cash to me via western union money transfer all
western union charges will be deducted from the money. If you are interested, please
get back to me as soon as possible.

Thanks for your understanding. Please get back to me with your Complete Informations

Not a bad idea, and I was gonna do something close to that. But what amazes me is how soon they give up. Looks like this guy gave up already too. Seems they aren't as "robust" as "Fun with a scammer 1".
