I am gonna go and cry myself to sleep.

 

It seems that most people here with the exception of a few tend to pass off Massa. In looking at the point standings after this race he's in third place ahead of Fisi by 1 point - well ahead of KR. I hope he maintains the lead and gives Ferrari a third place in DC. I have a friend who's been to several of the F1 test sessions in Italy and always has very favorable comments about Massa.

Not sure what you are saying. FA won the race and was very gracious during the interview.

 

You must be sleep deprived. How many more dumb statements are you going to make. You're right FA has no ability what so ever. You could have been driving that car and passed MS.

I can't stand FA, but do you think the car just drove itself through 130R flatout the entire race while FA was asleep at the wheel. Get a grip, he drove a good race and was within 5 seconds of MS. Did he deserve to win the race.....NO, but does he deserve the championship? Certainly, eventhough I can't stand FA or anything even remotely French, he's a worthy champion.

And Fisi just lost his best friend, why would he be celebrating anything.

And your statement about Senna is a bit stupid as well. MS has done the same thing.

Yup! He even said that during the interview. I still am not a fan of FA, but he brought his car across the finish line first!

Agreed. The entire season does not start and finish in one race. It's a long 18 races with 17 completed so far. No one can take away what Alonso has done. He's been very consistent. Him and MS are on par with eachother imo as far as driving ability.

Like in China, people were screaming that FA didn't congratulate Michael, but I had to show the pics at the weigh-in to prove them wrong. The same probably happened here. No reason for Fisi to celebrate or open the champagne imo.

Michael was happy at Monza when Alonso DNF'd so why can't Alonso do the same? A bit hypocritcal imo.

 

Not divine justice, unless your God watches F1 races That is racing. The team and driver with the best package will win barring a mishap. Massa could have won this race. Had he pitted at his scheduled time and come out infront of FA. But that is the old coulda, woulda, shoulda.....

 

OK do not pile on now, let us mourn in peace! I think all jknight meant is that FA would not have passed MS for the win had it not been for the engine failure. I agree with her

how fake was FA's post race celebrations? earlier this week, he accused the team of abondoning him and all, now he's jumping over the fence in parc ferme like how MS did last week to acknowledge the whole team and all. and that silly stupid dance of his...i thought the last time i was gonna see it was in canada.

 

Schumacher concedes the title to Alonso

Michael Schumacher has conceded the world championship to rival Fernando Alonso, saying he will now go to the Brazilian Grand Prix with the sole aim of securing the constructors' championship for Ferrari.

Schumacher is ten points behind Alonso, after the German retired from today's Japanese Grand Prix with an engine failure - his first in over six years. Yet he insisted he was not dejected by the loss.

"The drivers' title for me is finished, but we go to Brazil to win the constructors'," Schumacher said at Suzuka after the race.

"Our team is great: the boys are the best I know. I'm very satisfied with all our mechanics and engineers in Ferrari. That's racing. You win and lose together.

"Today we all tried hard, we were first but lost the engine. That's Formula One. I'm not very disappointed. Life and racing is like this.

"We must be very proud of the work we've done, because in Canada we were 25 points behind, and neither you or others thought we'd come back. Now we are here, nine points behind in the constructors'."

The only viable way for Schumacher, who retires from Formula One after the Brazilian event, to clinch the drivers' championship at Interlagos would be to win the event while Alonso fails to score any point.

But Schumacher says this scenario is not one he wishes to aim for, instead preferring to concentrate on the constructors' standings, where Ferrari are nine points behind Renault.

"First of all we'll fight for the constructors' title in Brazil. We can also fight for the drivers', but we're ten points behind.

"I don't want to think of a race I must win with the other not finishing. I don't like that."

Thanks Tony - you are exactly correct !! He (FA had already made mistakes in the race) and it would have been very doubtful for him to overtake MS -the discussion is on this thread is about the events pertinent to the Japanese GP.

i know I'm a bit late to the thread now.......but I just got home, that engine blow up made me almost cry, good for schumi keeping his head up though!

and I hope Fisi gets better, I know what it feels like to lose a friend

edit : there's this funny mail came to my local TV station. this female fan. said she was a huge Mclaren supporter for years now, but she hopes that MS beats FA on his nose, because she doesn't want FA to take the number 1 to MAc....cos she hates him! thats what she said... rock on lady!

 

I for one hope the season doesn't end that way.

Geez, Michael didn't even complete one lap after the pit stop before *kaboom*.

I was going to ask if there was a tool missing from the Ferrari pits (or all the sugar from the Renault commisary ), but ...

Anybody hear what happened to DC? Speed channel missed it in commercial, but Coulthard pitted on lap 34 and DNF'd on lap 35 .... with another Ferrari engine. Schumi pitted at the beginning of lap 36 and never completed the lap.

Maybe the "spec setting" Ferrari mill was just a smidge over the edge? (Dang that stupid spec engine concept anyway.)
