Actually I think he reminds me MS, minus the dirty driving. He's about to clinch his second WDC with Renault (formerly Benneton), and he will be moving to to a famous team that has lost it's way. If he can motivate people there they way MS did at Ferrari, I think 2007 will be a learning and rebuilding year as was 1996 at Ferrari, but Alonso is going to win some more world driving championships and I think he'll do it without the lapses of good ethics and judgment that have haunted MS throughout his career.

Cant agree, whereis MS is a Team person FA is not, his remarks about his Renault team suggest he has no idea about team moral and he is a whinger and moaner.......

Good Ethics! You must be joking! Alonso's first championship was won in a farce year, with farce races, with farce rules and a farce championship! Real ethical!

I think you are partly correct. Alonso still has a lot to learn about team dynamics but I think he will mature over the next season or two. As for team morals, he hasn't disgraced his team by crashing his car into someone else in order to win the WDC.

I'm not joking, and I don't think his 1st WDC was a farce any more than you think any of Schumacher's championships were a farce. If Kimi had won the WDC last year, you certainly wouldn't be calling it a farce championship since he is driving for the Scuderia next year.

And WHEN Alonso wins the WDC in Brazil, he will have beaten MS just as Hakkinen did, and it will be no farce, regardless of what you think.

We will continue the discussion WHEN Alonso wins the WDC in Brazil...

As I said before in another thread...

Ferrari 1 - 2 at Interlagos! The rest is up to Alonso and Renault! Never say never!

Yes, but that was Bernie and Max's ethics, not Alonso's

I think the race for the manufacturers championship will be more about what Fisi and Mazza do than what MS and FA do. FA only needs one point to win the WDC, and that shouldn't be much of a problem....

If someone accepts a farce championship they become a farce champion

Let us see what happens. Michael's last race. I am real proud to be a Michael and Ferrari fan. He is the greatest racer of all time and I am previledged to be alive to see him race!

My thoughts also . . I have been very fortunate to attend many of the races where Michael set yet more records and attend a F1 test session with him as the driver.

As far as my thoughts on Alonso's career - I think he best enjoy his DC assuming that he gets it. He's joining a team with a less than stellar record this year and I hardly think he's the key to opening the McLaren door to winning. His attutide this year IMO is not that of a mature professional person and his childish mannerisms and whiney comments invoke immaturity. I too think he'll bang heads with the McLaren powers to be and wonder just how long it will be until he screams Nascar. Quite honestly, I don't see him achieving additional DC's nor coming close to any of MS records. With Vettel, Hamilton and if Nico got the right car, Alonso will be history.

Is his career not already outstanding? Youngest race winner, WDC, and multiple WDC (well, not yet) in the sport? How much more outstanding a career do you want?

Impy, are you trying to say that Alonso WROTE the rules to suit himself in 2005?
A world championship IS a world championship, and the rules were the same for everybody last year; just too bad the Bridgestone were too conservative and couldn't deliver good tires able to last one whole GP.
What will be your explanation if/when he wins the 2006 championship?

No, I am not saying that Alonso wrote the rules himself in 2005. I am saying that by accpting a farce championship one becomes a farce champion.

The rules were designed to take away the developments made by Ferrarri in certain areas and enhance the development of other teams made in other areas. Singling out Bridgestone is not wise. F1 is a team sport. It is the entire package. You cannot drive a car without tires.

At least Bridgestone played it safe. Michelin almost killed one racer and almost seriously injured another!

You will get my explanation for 2006 WDC when it is decided. Still given the numbers anything is possible!
