If you have an older car and always wanted to install a new audio but the modern ones looked out of place consider this Becker - looks classic but has all latest features - perfect for pagodas, old MGs, etc

Pic and write up below :

The Becker Mexico has a high-quality look with its chrome bezel rings and fine horizontal lines set against piano black lacquer. The 13-colour display hiding behind the retro-look front shows all the required functions and when in ‘radio’ mode a bright red pointer indicates the station.

The working parts are carried over from the Becker ‘Cascade Pro’ model and as such include multi-language functions and a card reader that will take not only a telephone SIM card but also Compact Flash and SD cards for data and music files.

The integrated Bluetooth function will give hands-free calling while the navigation can either be planned at home or office on a PC and downloaded onto a Compact Flash card or made directly on the unit via its own 2GB card that holds navigation data for 34 countries.

Of course the Becker Mexico also plays music to a superlative standard of quality. It can take as a source a remote CD player, an iPod or direct from a Flash card. A graphic equaliser display is available.

just the thing to be hidden behind a walnut or oak panel in a bentley or Rolls :

The Panasonic CQ-TX5500D ($950) is the only car stereo that we know of that features a built-in vacuum tube amplifier for all the retro-sounding overtones you so desperately desire. It plays CD, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 discs, and emits an orange glow that you can see through the middle window when you're rocking out. The double-din stereo, which will fit in many import cars (and get rid of that stupid empty pocket thing in your dash at the same time), also sports old school meters that have needles instead of LEDs.

    One for the value buyer....

    Saw this on eBay today:

2004 Porsche GT Item number: 190038887913 - buy it now price: US$329,000.00

This car was US$484,000 when new ie owner has lost approximately US$155,000 for 2 years use or US$77,500 per year.

records show accident free car, mileage 2,900 km - rumours that there are even cheaper ones but this car seems to be a good buy in my view - esp for use in M'sia

Hi everyone. Found this site via Google and have spent several hours reading through this thread. (Any idea how long it takes to read 200+ pages?!)

Am hoping for some suggestions here. Situation is that I currently own a 2002 BMW E46 M3 and I'm looking for a change. My M3 is in very good condition and I should be able to get something in the S$150K ballpark for it. I'm willing to top up around another S$100K and I'm currently contemplating an older F-car or perhaps a Porsche.

The F355b referred to earlier sounds interesting, but S$280K seems steep. I noticed that Autoinc Sports has a black 2002 parallel-imported 911 turbo asking about the same money. Other cars I am considering would be a Maser 4200 coupe.

So any tips / suggestions? I intend to drive my car every day and I'm not really into track days etc.

The 355 would be my choice. If you are serious i am sure the owner will be willing to negotiate.

Hey CT, where can we find those stereo sets? That Panasonic looks really good to me but might be a little thick for most cars.

I got some nice pics to share later today.

I must say Dempsey is a good place to spot nice cars. Saw so many Porsches of different year from a 70s 2.7 to Cayenne Turbo. Aston Martin to a restored Mini, Flying Spur to XK8 & of course 348 to Enzo. Hee!

TR & 190SL. Taking pictures of them together almost made me cry because a rock bumped my front lip. Ahhhhh. But the 190SL is a rare sight here & what better thn having a shoot together. Oh, driving on that ground gave me almost instant power-steering! The sand reduced effort considerably but too much will get you stranded.
