With ~4000 watches online, I thought I really needed to make it easier for people to find what they are looking for.

Could you please look over the following link and see if the search advanced search function is easy enough to navigate?

    http://theluxurybazaar.com/timepieces/webforms/watches/search/advanced_search.aspx

ie. Try to find all the ladies watch in white gold with diamonds that cost between 10,000 and 15,000.

Site seems a bit sluggish this morning for some reason :(

    Thanks a lot,
    -Peter

From a user standpoint its simple, but very slow? Are you on a shared server? From my initial look at it, it seems that you share a server with some other bandwidth intensive sites that slow you down.
The search is nice but would be even more helpful if more options were available with some sort of filter.
For instance, i use this http://www.injectedperformance.com/AdvSearch.aspx?BID=&Q= on my site and it is very simple to find exactly what you want. Yea, there are a lot of options, but by using just 2 or 3 you can zero in on the product you want very quickly. Im building another site with an even more advanced search feature that will launch next week, i think its one of my favorites.

My biggest problem with your search (and i like your site, just giving you my opinion) is that it takes to many clicks to get to what you want. Typically, this is a turn off to potential customers. The general rule in web development (and it spills over into your SEO) is that any product a customer might want is no more than 3 clicks from the main page.
Speaking of SEO, how do you rank in the Search Engines? Google has indexed several of your pages but im curious about how well your SERPs are. This is what google sees when they look at your page http://66.102.7.104/search?q=cache:gTqSq7vNw_UJ:www.theluxurybazaar.com/+site:theluxurybazaar.com&hl=en&lr=&strip=1

They dont even see your content until they read down some, and most of the time, they quit before that unless they see changes from the last visit.
Sorry for the long response, i research sites for SEO all day. Anyways, i like the search but think it would convert more sales if it was A. Faster, and B. More Defined.

Thanks for the response. It's on shared hosting right now, but we're definately looking at moving to dedicated. For the most part our hosting has been fairly quick.

Google seems to rank our pages pretty high when searching. Might be because we have so many items on Froogle, or some of the watches listed just aren't for sale on any other sites. Would it be a better idea to have some hidden tag with updated material listed first?

I liked the idea of a "live search", where clicking a checkbox would bring back results, and as if click more and more boxes, the search is narrowed. If the host was quicker, it would work a lot better. :(

One of the things people compliment most about the site is it's easy and quickness to navigate. Hope I'm not getting too far from that.

    Thanks,
    -Peter

Looks good at a quick glance. Seems better than anything else out there. I'm sure with some tweaking it'll be excellent.

Dedicated is the way to go but if your not planning on making the move soon, you can ask your host to move you to a server with less on it, or smaller sites on it. I had to do that for one of the forums i own and they moved me with no problems.
Yea, if your listed in froogle, that will help google ranks.

LIke i said, the search is good, jsut to many clicks to get to a product. I dont mind sites like that because i prefer more accurate results, but customers in general, no matter what you sell, are idiots. A search with all the options on one page is easier for them.
But overall the site looks pretty good.

I need to call them later on today. That's a good idea to ask to be moved to a server with less traffic. There really isn't any reason not to do dedicated hosting.

    Thanks,
