    355 F1 Spider

    Now I have a 06 430 Spider and a 00 360 Challenge Car

    have you driven an origina; F40? i dont think you would like it. You need to moldify brakes at the least to enjoy driving it

    With all do repect to Coachi, my car is completely stock... And I love it just the way it is. The brakes are amazing on the street.

    Others can talk far more intellegently about the track...

    I agree completely stock the car is fantastic, and the brakes are more than adequate for street. The pedal effort is quite high, but everything about these cars requires more driver effort. That's what makes them so fabulous.

    Good luck in your search for an unmolested example, it will be worth it.

    Untrue. I run stock brakes and the car is just fine in normal driving and casual track driving. I would not race it hard personally because the idea of causing significant damage is not appealing, but in normal use the only thing wrong with the brakes is that they tend to squeal quite bit if they are not warmed up. I think that non F40 owners who have driven one think the brakes are bad because they are used to power assisted brakes in their more modern cars. Once you get used to the level of pressure required to activate the brakes, they are simply excellent on the road.

    The beauty of a 20 year old car, is, well, that its 20 years old. IMO, leave her alone so we can appreciate her for what she was.

    Standards brakes are much enough for a road use and it's the most amazing emotional, sensation car you can find. Search for a car without modifications but the tank fuel as to be changed and also the cambeld.

    I am sorry to have implied that a stock F40 isnt fun to drive, because I dont own a stock F40. I was told, when I bought mine, that the bigger brakes are safer...probably on the track (though I don't intend to track my car) and yes many have modified the suspensions and intercoolers on their cars so they can track them better. I am sure any F40 is as pleasant a driving experience as mine is. However, every once in a while, on a lonely country road, one might be tempted to test some of the capabilities of the car....and yes the brakes are not power assisted and hard to apply...I feel safe with my racing brakes and larger rotors...my 2 cents worth with sincere apologies

    I completely agree with you. I have 18" OZ's and mega brakes. My original wheels and stock brakes are wrapped in bubble wrap and can be refitted anytime with no problem at all. I also fitted a Tubi exhaust which is wonderful. Whether track or street grip and brakes at the minimum inspire confidence and in the worst case can make the difference between a near miss and a big problem. The F40 is major fun to drive hard. Trail braking with sublime steering is a timeless pleasure. I see no reason not to take advantage of advances in tyres and brakes
