Not so much a car scene as an F1 one: In (the original) "Casino Royale", when Sellers says, "Moss! Follow that car", and Moss sets off on foot. ("Next time, I'll get Fangio") ;)

All of the aforementioned movies are great, but the race through Paris in Le Rendezvous by Claude Lelouch is INCREDIBLE, and so is the soundtrack of the V12 (or so it sounds).

If you don't beleive me, watch it yourself and tell me what you think:

For a little off the beaten track, but still with Italian machinery, try these -

What was the name of that heist flick set in Switzerland that had David Jannsen as a US Treasury undercover guy...he gets in this long mountain road chase driving a Daytona; the chick he is after has a Daytona spyder!

Remember George C. Scott in "The Last Run"; the chase through the Spanish or Portugese mountains driving an old Lancia against a Jaguar 420 sedan?

And what was that Donald Sutherland crime movie where he steals the girl's Maserati Ghibli Spyder and she gives chase in a Daytona - only to smash the windshield on a toll bridge barrier?

None of these Oscar material, of course, but great car scenes...

The opening credits of the Italian job. Lamborghini Miura driving the twisty mountain roads to Matt Monroe singing 'On Days Like These'. Beautiful :)

Against All Odds, black 308qv racing a Porsche 911 is my favorite car/chase,(I used to own the same Ferrari), then there was the 70's movie The 7 Ups, awesome chase with Roy Schieder.

What no mention of the Fast and the Furious?!?!?! JK:)

I have to give a few more votes for the chase at the end of gone in 60 seconds, as well as the chase in the movie Driven where they take champ cars and race them through downtown streets.

I don't like that scene (specifically, then end of that scene). Beautiful car. More car abuse just a bit later in, with the Jags and an Aston.

I think maybe the GoldenEye car was a DB5?

Condorman had "the Greatest American Hero" in it...

And although not a car (but Italian just the same), Angelina Jolie pulling up on the dock in Gone In 60 Seconds riding an Augusta MV4!

Any love for the transporter 1 and 2 ? The movies were nothing special but the M5 and audi W12 did make them interesting. On the Augusta note in XXX Vin Diesel has one and it looks good.

I'll go with you on that! The sight of 512S's and 917s blasting down Mulsanne at 220 MPH is hard to beat!

But I'll also cast a vote for the chase scene in the comedy "What's Up, Doc?". Think of a comedy chase scene on the same streets as "Bullitt" and you can imagine what results. It even includes a Chinese dragon (!).

Sorry but these are all CGI so they just don't cut it for me.

Anyone remember the end of "A Star is Born"? Christofferson driving a red Ferrari Daytona (license plate - WANTED) to Striesand through the Nevada desert.

I always remember the cop saying "left the road at an estimated 170 m.p.h".

    Damn right it did...

Bullet was definitely a ground breaker for chase scenes. Has my vote. Great sounds.

Bullit is classic chase scene. Redefined how they were done for the era.

Opening of Cannonball Run I (Black Countach)

Ronin was great scene with the low wheel shots and gangster turns thru the streets.

I know its not a chase scene, but when Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin are dressed as priests in the 308. When they pull along side the ambulance "PULL OVER! We want to bless you." That scene is forever stuck in my brain. So funny.

Yellow 355 in The Rock is a good one.

Just about any of the BMWFILM.COM movies. The Madonna one is great in the older M5.
