I just noticed something interesting on that list of cars. Each EB 110 has B02 in its VIN number, that's how Bugatti marked the SS versions, the GTs were numbered with B01.
Hi, guys. I wanted to inform you all about the gallery that I'm working on. It now contains over 300 pictures of the Sultan's car's. And I'm not even done yet Comments and additions are very welcome. Enjoy... http://www.*************/gallery/129612/976/1.html
555 BHP, eh? AMG engine, eh? Remembers me of something... But probably the entire Sultan's collection was a sort of "laboratory" for car factories. Just think about the 456 "Night Vision", predicting the Head Up Display system of some modern cars (BMW for instance), or the semi automatic gearbox on some Ferraris, with shifting paddles behind the steering wheel... And i don't want to talk about the shapes of some cars: there's a Bentley who looks very similar to the actual Conti GT. About that AMG engine... Mmmmhhh...
The 300 SL's were powered by C36 AMG engine's. And yeah, it looks like a test/play-ground for the factories. They could do anythng they want -> money was no problem, only limited by the technology of that time. What a shame that it ended like it ended.
Are there any pictures of the Evoluzione s/n 79889? Has anyone ever seen it? Does anyone know if it has been modified in any way? I'd really like to see that one
Not sure of all of the details, but I know there were a bunch of 600 SEL/SL/SECs that had 7.2 or 7.3 V12 AMG engines put in them. Was offered a choice a few years back but all were RHD.
All the Benz pics I've got: http://www.*************/Gallery?cmd=viewGallery&uID=129612&gID=976&pgID=10
Thanks. I collected those pics from the net over the years, but most of them I only have since about a month (when you released your list I started searching for pics again). It was quite a work to get all this pics under the right name in that gallery. Is it correct what is in my gallery? Edit: I also sent you a PM with questions about my gallery, did you receive it?
I think some of the black 600SELs are used as Hotel cars in Brunei (Forgot what the hotel name was). I think it was EMPIRE hotel.
Haha, awesome. Edit: there should be more pics like this, where the royal family attends events, but the only pics I found of that are the golden Rolls and the Black Phantom.
Could the 560 SEC Gullwing I posted there possibly be a Koenig Special? ----------------------------- About three years ago a '98 S600 armored car, that belonged to the sultan of Brunei, was up for sale at around 145,000. The s600 had B5 rating with oxygen tanks and all kinds of other goodies with only 5,000 miles. It was sold on E-bay, where they said that the Sultan had 12 of these cars. \ I've only heard of this, but never seen it. Does anyone have pictures or info on this car?
The company Amedeo built the hotel which was the company owned by Prince Jefri the sultans brother. This is the company that all the scandal was about.
No, it's a Gemballa Gullwing, based on Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC, with 400 hp. Gemballa built 6 of them (not all for Brunei, also some for Riyadh). The Sultan of Brunei also owns a Gemballa Avalanche.
I stayed in that hotel last year. My first impression was 'wow' but afterwards I found out the service was not that great, the food is so-so (only 1 restaurant is open on weekdays lunch), and the business center equipment lacks that 21st century hotel electronics standard. I give the hotel a B or B+ max. If that is how His Majesty is running his businesses/investments, small wonder that His brother's Amedeo corp went down the drain.
