wallet shrapnel that is. i know this thread risks me being labelled a Jimmy, but i can't stand the stuff... i never really use it when i buy stuff, so when i get home i just dump it in a jar/bowl/whatever. wherever i go i usually leave behind a pile of change. every few months i cash it in, and this time it's been probly 5 or 6 months. no you don't get to have it if you figger out how much is there, but i'll update the thread later when i've counted it if you want to hazard a guess. i'm guessing $387.65 Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
How long did it take you to stand all of those coins upright for the photo? Either way, go dump them all in your bath and take a swim in it before you cash them
not long, it was the concentration required to make all those little green letters levitate above them that really took it outta me. so any more guesses?
Well considering that your two dollar pieces look like they're the same size as the 5 cent.. my gut feeling was $287.32
well i've gone apartheid on their ass! this is gonna take forever to count... really wishing there were more goldies in there so many bloody 20's, insane Image Unavailable, Please Login
Don't they have "coinstar" in Australia? There's one in every grocery store here. http://www.coinstar.com/us/html/a-home You don't have to count it, but you pay 8.9% for the convenience.
not that i know of, but bloody hell i hate banks that want to charge 10% just to swap it over (after i've counted it)... seriously, previously i've had a lot more goldies in the pile and have exchanged over $1000 in change... think i want to give them $100 for 3 minutes werk? luckily my bank doesn't charge me... yet....
OK, now it's your turn to start getting those into the Aussie supermarkets. There are now coinstar machines at all the supermarkets, and from what heard on the radio commercial is they don't charge the fee if you use the money at the supermarket!
Not true, at least, not at my local supermarket. The machine spits out a cash voucher, which has already taken the 8.9% out of the total. You can spend it, or you can just go over to the cash register and trade the voucher for greenbacks.
okay the count is in! here's the breakdown $2 = $100 $1 = $60 50c = $190 20c = $220 10c = $80 5c = $25 TOTAL = $675 plus the leftover stuff makes up $50.60, so all up there was $725 of shrapnel laying around my apartment. (the pic shows $645... i moved a beanbag and found another $25 bucks in 50c pieces ) i wish my scales had a fresh battery... i can't believe how much this weighs, must be over 20kg, yikes. well been stuck in my sheit-paying job for 6 months longer than anticipated while i polish off a project - and will probly be stuck for a few months yet - so times are tough and i have to consult my change jar again haha... not a huge bounty, but another ~$370 worth of tax-free drinking money Image Unavailable, Please Login
it's that time again....! i've moved house a couple months ago, and have been considering anything under $20 bucks to be 'loose change' so this count will be interesting.... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
look at the time of the posts... it took 24 minutes to take photos, separate the $$$, take more photos, transfer them to pc, resize them, upload them and write a note. it was also 5am here and didn't feel like doing much else. what would you do with the money? i have a balcony i could tip it off, that would save me some time.
