Deans thread about oil level got me thinking.. my oil level is fine but what if I have to ad oil before my next oil change? I have no idea what oil is in it? When I bought the car the oil looked very fresh as it was recently changed by the dealer. I called the dealer and they told me they don't know what oil since they carry several and it's the owners choice. I guess if it gets low I'll just have it completely changed so I know whats in it????

That's a good question Ben. The only way I knew what oil my car has is because the last oil change was 3 months ago during the major service performed just before I bought it. So I pulled the records for the service done at F of San Francisco, and there it was (Mobil 1, 15W-50 ExP). As well, I wanted to add antifreeze today, and the records state exactly what was used in the last major (Shell).

As long as you don't mix Conventional with synthetic--can't imagine it will hurt anything at all....dealer probably uses conven. --just ask what weight they use and add some GOOD conven, if thats what they use...

Actually, you CAN mix them (though that is probably not ideal) and most dealers would use synthetic, not the regular stuff...since all Ferraris of recent vintage recommend synthetic, and even since the 70's they came with a semi-synthetic.

Quote from the Mobil 1 website:
"Mobil 1 is fully compatible with conventional motor oils, semi-synthetic motor oils and other synthetic motor oils, should it be necessary to mix them. However, it is important to note that the superior performance of Mobil 1 will be reduced by diluting it in any way. "

BTW, it is "add" not "ad"....but you knew that. ;)
