    Holy crap...
What'd he do... spin that thing a few times into the barrier?

Oh and I love the fact that the "ding, ding, ding" of the door open/keys in the ignition/seat belt off or whatever can still be heard throughout the video...

    Sad.

Despite what some people think, cars like that simply don't belong on the track. In the hands of a very experienced driver, it might be okay. But I've seen too many inexperienced drivers get onto the track in sedans like that, think that they are driving sportscars, and end up in the wall. Sad to see any car wrecked on the track -- it gives these events a bad name they don't deserve (plus, it takes away a whole lot of track time from the rest of us).

Unfortunately, the real lesson here, and one that doesn't get out to the driving public, is that cars like that are not built for high performance driving situations. When I see people driving cars like that (or any car, for that matter) like maniacs on the street or highway, I wish that I had a gun and a badge and could put all of them in jail. They are playing with fire and someone (usually the OTHER guy) is going to get burned. At least this guy learned the lesson the hard way at the track, wearing a helmet, and walked away. On the street when cars lose it, someone is likely to get seriously hurt or dead.

Sorry, pet peeve. All done preaching, for now anyway. ;-)

Since the story behind this crash has YET to be posted, I guess I will.

That track session was for Audi Sales people, it was for training purposes. The person driving the car was a professional driver, not just some ordinary guy. The driver was HIRED to be there to show the performance of the car to the sales/tech staff. That S8 was an Audi of America car, just like all the other cars at the event. Just days before an RS4 being driven by a pro driver wrecked as well. I agree with all the comments made so far on this topic, but lets make sure we get all the facts before jumping to conclusions. This video is a good reminder that no matter how good a driver you are, things still can go wrong.
