The guy is a criminal if not illegal alien and he should be deported and his assets seized. Plus I think there are to many people on earth and to few Ferrari's. To me and thousands of others the Ferrari is a religion, the "Red Religion" as it is called in Italia!

Plus I think the judicial system is slanted towards the rich, you rob a liquor store and get 20$ you may get 30 years in prison you steal millions or billions and you get sent to a country club. or you murder somone and move to Florida...

    JMHO

I am much more bummed however when an older classic Ferrari is wrecked, the Enzo as cool as it is is a production model has has little apeal to me personally, now Jim's car............ ;-P

Apart from the shareholders of the financial institutions / insurance companies who lost out (a lot of whom are pensions funds........)

Tell that to Naseem "the coward" hammed ;)

unless of course you breached your finance agreements and exported the car out of the UK without approval from the finance company........then irespective of who you are and what car it is, it becomes criminal theft.....as opposed to stoping payments for a car and running it round the UK

That was posted in the SoCal section a few days ago... damn interesting article and amazing he was able to pull off the stunt as long as he did. One would think if he owned a home in mailbu (read $$$$$$$$$$) the banks owning the title to 3 big $$ cars would come looking for them. Makes you wonder what he could have done had he not been a shady bastard.

Seriously, this sounds like a movie. As I was reading, I half-expected to hear "then Bruce Willis came in with guns a-blazing and killed all the bad money stealing uber-criminals".

If he didn't crash the car that set the chain of discovery in motion, could he have kept the lifestyle going forever

Yes, thanks for stating the bleedin' obvious ... you didn't think that 1400+ posts on this thread was rather a dead-giveaway ?

And, fyi, the wired article is from this month's issue and was the first time I've read such a comprehensive overview of the whole messy business. Thanks RMX for the link.

"I cannot agree that I stole the car because I didn't," said Bo Stefan Eriksson, 44, speaking through a Swedish interpreter in Los Angeles Superior Court.

The guy can't speak english? Or, is that just another guise? IMO I think a jury will go hard on this guy. He faces up to 11 years if they do. We'll have to see if the gamble pays off for him.

I'll see your ten and raise you $100.

This guy is dumb enough to talk himself into the electric chair on a parking ticket.

I'm pretty sure Enzo himself would have approved of what was done with one of his namesakes.

This guy will be sipping Latte at Le petit Four on Sunset Plaza by the end of this year, he has a HUGE rabbit up his hat.. :D
No wonder he turned down the plea and even less surprising that he was offered one.
Even the DUI charges won't stick, he'll get probation for illegal firearm possession and a fine for failure to register motor vehicle with the DMV in a timely manner, remember were you first heard it and from who... :D:D:D

Ok might just happen as you say BUT there still is a matter of the INS and being in the country without proper doccuments AND things that they are really not taking lightly

Even if he clears all his USA issues 5 will get you 20 that he is DEPORTED back to face charges in UK

He'll get sentenced to 2-3 years here, serve 1, get deported -er- extradited back to the UK, and be hung there.

I'm thinking most of his prior criminal history will be ruled inadmissable here in front of a jury.

"California prosecutors allege that the crashed Ferrari along with another Enzo Ferrari and a Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR -- worth a total of nearly $4 million"

Huh? Arent they a bit off on that number? :)

i'll be absolutely amazed if he spends more than a year in the slammer, and even more so if it's a typical LA county prison not some club fed setup.

What happens to him in the UK is another story, it appears as though they will be out for blood.
