    Hey guys,

ive been looking at building a shed out the back (not at my current house) to house the Elise, but the cost of these pre fab units is pretty stoopid, so had the thaught of perhaps putting a 4 post hoist in the double garage and just putting the elise up on that?

anybody using a 4 poster for storage? or have any experience with them?

any brands to be wary of? or are they all about the same.

is $5-6k around the sort of mark i should be looking at? or am i getting ripped with those sort of prices?

    Cheers

Keep an eye out for industrial auctions...hoists come up regularly

Weve got a 2 post Molnar, wouldnt buy anything else.

Moretti...do u find the suspension takes a while to 'settle' back to proper height after its been on the hoist?

no, the suspension is always dangling as I leave the car on the hoist so I can work on it at normal height, saves the back a lot of agony.

The suspension does seem to creak a bit since it has lived on the hoist though, the same as the gt4 did

you may be onto something there, I may need to lubricate the bushes and rubber buffers to stop the creaking

Agree lads. We use Molnar. They are really really good. They have cheap ones selling on ebay, 2 and 4 post ones. Not sure how safe they are and if they ever need spare parts, you may be in trouble. Stick with Molnar, as they can be serviced/repaired locally. As 355 mentioned, they can be found cheap at auction. Keep a look out mate. :)

Look into it mate. You dont want to get a cheap Chinese hoist. Even though there would be some form of quality control on import stuff like that into the country. They look really really cheap and dangerous. Probably never have a safety issue. But you never know. Also a PAIN to get parts for. There are a few w/shops here with cheapies and I have seen them and I wouldnt own one personally. :)

i've got a tecalemit 2 post hoist , very good and very safe . if you have the roof height , go for a 4 post . much easier to place the car straight on the hoist , get out and and lift . you have to muck around with the 2 post lining the car up , getting out then pushing it forwards as you can't get out when the car is in position as there isn't enough space for the door to open , screwing the feet up etc etc . i'll sell you my hoist for half the price i paid , it's brand new

How about getting one after the initial "new car hit". When they come up for sale $200K less in 2 years time. Would that be on the menu, or that still wouldnt blow your skirt up? :)
