NHIS in Louden NH is having two open track days for their road course this month. Entry fee is $100 per session and you must be a Competition Licensed driver (SCCA, COMSCC, Skip Barber, etc). Cars get to enjoy the track from 8am to 12 pm for the first session, then a lunch break, then a 1pm to 5pm for the second session.

Usually the track is open for anyone the first hour, with the remaining hours being alternating 20 minute sessions for amateurs (or slower cars) and pros.
NOTE: There is very minimal flag staff and passing is pretty much open season. In other words, it is not flag staff everywhere and passing is not limited to only certain areas of the track.

Hope to see some Fchatters there as the track is very challenging/technical.

DARN! Just loaded the car on the trailer and she is ready. BTW, the lowering of the rear by 0.5-inches seems to have better balanced her from what i can tell. The rear end feels more solidly planted during turns. When we weighed her on April 27 at NHIS she was at 42.5% front and 57.5% rear. Will corner weight her tomorrow to see where we are at. Wish you could have attended.

Enjoy the Music (Queensryche :) ),

    "...There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
    Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared

It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind

    Commanding in another world
    Suddenly you hear and see
    This magic new dimension..."

Thanks to Verell and everyone who helped this past weekend! The new clutch/flywheel rocks! Between that, lowering the rear by 1/2-inch, and maybe the new wing... went from lap times of 1:30 to 1:26.5. That is a SIGNIFICANT chunk of time! That is about a 4% reduction in lap time!

Many thanks Scott for taking my call yesterday and your advice.

Burned through 35 gallons of gas yesterday (usually only go through 12 to 15 gallons during FCA and other events) as there was totally open track for 7 hours. Only 12 cars or so attended the day and everyone took breaks from time to time. Therefore there were times maybe 3 cars were on track. Towards the last hour or so i was the only car still on track as a few cars had technical problems while others packed it on for the day early.

Will be posting video, driving impressions, etc in the Fchat TRACK section later today.

How was the car in the 9-10 transition? Did my advice help?

Glad to hear you are dropping times.

    Cheers!

Am trying to get the hang of 9-10 and seem i really need to be RIGHT AT that corner really, really close (where the cone sits atop). If i am even 1 foot off of it the bumps get the better of the car. My data shows those bumps cause her to go from about 1.1G to a sudden 1.5G of turning. Something about that turn has always been... interesting. She IS better than she has ever been and if i gave too much gas the rear end got too happy, too little gas and she slides ok. It is really a delicate balance now that the car is a touch on the oversteer side of life.

Am really enjoying her being a touch oversteer versus understeer. As always, use of the throttle appropriately makes life balanced :) i LOVE how i could now really throw her into turn 11.

Also, she does now wash out (understeer) nearly as much as she one did at turn 2 to the transition. Really held a nice line from turn 1 all the way through the transition (double chicane configuration).

Turn 3 was MUCH BETTER as now 2nd gear seems to have more guts/glory... enough to break out the tail end if i give her too much throttle while turning before the compressions happens when you reach the uphill section.

She felt GLUED to the track for turns 6-7 :)

At the end of the main straight was at 100mph and she was more than willing to do more. It appears the lackluster acceleration has been greatly reduced.

The track 'came to me' during two long sessions where i was doing between 1:26.5 to 1:27.3 consistantly. Below are graphs from the best lap of the day.

    --------------
    --------------
ADDED: The TOP TWO GRAPHS are from yesterday.

The THIRD graphic i loaded the best lap of 1:30 during a July track day and had the software overlay the data. The BLACK is yesterday and BLUE is from July event. It is obvious acceleration is improved as is top speed acquired before braking.

(Humor) It is from my old Osbourne 'transportable' computer. It has the upgraded amber screen and TWO 5.25-inch floppy drives :)

Seriously, many thanks. You guys deserve HUGE credit for getting her performing better in many areas. i'm just the nut(job) behind the wheel %-)
