i'm not quite sure of whether or not there was a thread comparing these two marquees. personally, my choice is rolls royce, simply because there seems to be more of a history, more recognition. what is everyone's thoughts? you don't have to base your thoughts off of the new rolls royce, because personally i prefer the older, thru 2002 models. so...thoughts, please :)

I used to say Bentley, and still have a hardcore love affair with the Arnage, but Rolls are looking more and more appealing, not becuase of the Phantom, but it becoming more classy then a bentley. Plus my great grandfather was the first electrition for Rolls, and my grand mother started a company called Magnito Repairs which rebuilt the Magnitos of Rolls and Bentley, also a lot of the wiring and the lamps that go in them. So a lot of family ties with the brand. My Mum sold the company about 22 years ago, but Magnitos Repairs is still around today.

If you are considering the days of old, Bentley meant speed, Rolls Royce meant luxury. Depended on the image you desired. I liked the RR's of the '50's with the single headlights.

The new Bentley is an Audi A8L, the new Rolls Royce is some sort of BMW. I now prefer the Bentleys as the RR's is just too large.

Rollers were always large, thats the appeal.

Un opposed luxury, now they are once again living up to their "Best car in the World" tag that started with the Silver Ghost

The charachter that was once associated with Bentley has evapourated thanks to zee Germans

Today RR has the better product. I love the Phantom and you will find nothing on it from any other BMW product. This is not a re-hashed 7 series.
The Bentley on the other hand is very VW. An inflated Phaeton or A8.

Regarding recent older cars, bentley had the better product IMO.
    Especially the 90's Continental T and R and the 80's Turbo R.

And sorry man but that grates ;)
A marquee is a tent. You mean marque.

I'll take the Bentley Speed 8 please. The Phantom looks great, though.

Today’s Bentleys are too bland; they should have followed on from the 90s models, which were excessive in everyway. The Phantom is a little too vulgar and in your face for my liking, I prefer the almost understated elegance of the 60s and 70s rolls.

I also think Bentley's production numbers and downmarket move take some of "exclusive" luster away. The Arange is a beautiful car, but the other models seem too bland for the price.

On my way to work I say a powder blue(baby blue) Bentley GTC in London Victoria looked really nice. Def would have one over the standard GT or the bland Flying Spur which are all too common now a days
