Only S$50-80K for the body of a 512 TR? The 190 SL owner is asking for $200k for his car. I guess beauty (and value) really is in the eyes of the beholder or rarity in the market. Frankly, I'd rather buy a 512 if the other car was a 190 SL.

    Well said on the rest.

On to another topic - F1 or manual - what're your preferences and why...anyone?

    Hi Jon
The testarossa is one of the most striking cars you can see on the road..I remember being spellbound when I saw one of the first ones on the road in singapore...fantastic.
I think 997C2S is good...but tip or manual? you may be bored with the tip after a while...compared with a new (arguably even an old) ferrari it's going to be much less of "an occasion" to drive (the noise, the look, the everything)...but then I suppose it's to be expected as it's a different price league altogether.
With any modern production car depreciation should be scary in the initial years, GT3 or otherwise...but maybe with high worldwide demand and the slow supply for the GT3 the drop may not be that bad for now?

Cannot explain...its just so much more fun and quick in my opinion.
All F1 cars are that way for a reason.
    ...and coz I am lazy.

    F1....cos I am lazy too.
The F1 shifts gears so efficiently, accurately and lightning quick all the time without fail and the response is way faster than my attempt at a Manual box.
The throttle blips during the downshifts are simply amazing...makes one handles the tranny like a 'race car driver' every single pull on the left paddle.

Me and my friend stopped by the Shangri-La earlier to have a look at the cars, wow there were so many nice ones. You guys have a very good taste I must say :). I've never seen so many in one place before, so it was a pretty good sight. The Testarossa which was there was absolutely stunning because I've never seen it up close in person, does it belong to an F-chatter here?

Haha those two pictures with the blanked out number plates were taken by me. You got from sgforums right :)

Pity there was no enzo though, would have been icing on the cake. But when the Murcielago came in, it just sounded like a monster when it was waiting to be parked

You are spot on about the AMG "Gullwing". A friend who bought the 365 GTC used to own a Pagoda SL. He claimed 60% of the time the car is in the workshop, 25% is in the garage, 5% is on the road. So, I agree with you that probably some classic car owners wish that their car has modern running gear.

Many years ago, I saw a Porsche and Merc SL parked on a small alley in Bali. It was just covered by flimsy cloth and basically left there to gather dust. Rumors had it that they were owned by the Brunei royal family. A Dino under a cloth canopy wouldn't surprise me at all.

Are you a car trader by profession? Or just a nickname?

Why is it LHD? How much is the 4200gt? Why didn't they hold the dinner at Rasa Sentosa, my third "home". How many yellow Murcs were there? More than 1?

    Just a nick.

Pagodas are generally reliable. My friend's is a daily driver but initially also had a lot to do. Now just small problems from time to time.

F1.. think it's more integrated with the car.. like in the F430 with e-diff and driver aids.. IMO realize the full potential of the car

anyone has a photo of the dodge viper in chrysler's(i think) showroom?

Wow, if only mine is the 512 but it's the earlier 5.0TR & yes that's the true & realistc value I would put on it rather than perceived like the 190SL & Pagodas. I would look @ the international market value when it's an old car without OMV. A clean testa is being marketed @ GBP34K but they're not going to buy from you anywhere near that as an import or "grey market" which fetches much lower.

280SL Pagodas are about GBP25K which makes it about S$40-50K body if you ever export, so the rest we're paying for is remaining COE, sentimental, because it's just that few here blah blah blah.

When I bought my classic Merc, my friend told me to use the UK value + 150% (OMV) to buy because that's what LTA charge if any cars were being imported then, what a fool I was. Try telling that when you're selling classic cars today. The only selling point is that we can't buy a RHD Daytona or another E-type & register it here to use no matter how much we pay today :(

Hi Avantgarde, met your family last night & your bro won a weekend stay @ Shangrila!

Lambo's dinner is on Monday, same place & as what friends said lastnight the Lambos got sidlined but come Monday, Ferraris get sidelined as well & a note which we agreed, these days, we see more Gallardos than Ferraris on the road. There were few 360s last night & an increasing fleet of 430s. Oh & the white F412 was there too! Roy came in his 328GTS, was there more than one TR?

One thing I realised is those small idiot digital cameras we have can't take night pictures. Flash is weak & the lens doesn't pick up details.
