hey there's a rare red 355 on ebay... why is that plate familiar?...
just checking out past shannons sales, this 1982 Pino Verde 308GTSi was passed in ($60-68k) on 02-may-05 engine: 04001942 chassis: ZFFN020000041051 http://www.shannons.com.au/pages/auctions/lot.jsp?id=UN0M532JI37BD8LU#
Interesting. 1982 was the worst year of performance in the 308's from memory. There are a few Pino Verdi Ferraris getting around. I have seen 456's, 355's and I think a 400. Still unusual though.
stunning! to be honest i couldnt see myself buying a green ferrari, however the condition of the car and terrific history behind it demands much respect and admiration dont ever sell her!
a coincidental point with that auction i posted is that it happened the day after you started this thread.
A common misconception, but it depends how you measure it I guess. A 2V injected car has a lower ratio diff, and accelerates just as good as a carb car up to and beyond the legal limits. I take care of a UK spec 2V injected car here. It's also got an Ansa mild steel sports exhaust and goes like the clappers. Easily as fast as you can tell no difference to a carb car. I haven't even seen an AUS spec 2V injected car... do they have the single inlet silencer and puny manifolds line an AUS QV, or are they like a UK car?? Did they have air injection/egr etc??
All the ones (3 or 4) I've been in are like slugs. Would certainly have the emission Cr*p, but that shouldn't make them as slow as they are. It's almost as if they are governed some how. They quoted 214bhp and I reckon that's opitimistic. OTOH, I may have been in some duds.
Yeah, and AUS QV's and even 328's feel like slugs too... compared to Carb cars or UK spec cars... So, where are the AUS 2V Inj cars?
and I'm not responsible. I've driven and raced against a few 2 valve injected cars and they are slugs.
Were they single inlet silencer cars like an AUS QV, or was the exhaust system more like a carb car... with a dual inlet silencer? And is your car an AUS spec?
Not sure what you mean by single inlet silencer...do you mean one header to each side of the muffler? Horse is Aus del, though we did buy some Euro black boxes, and injection head(not sure about this now...was 18 or 19 years ago) and has stainless replica of Ansa exhaust.
does the one and only silencer fitted to the car, have one point of entry or two.... ie, do the manifolds merge BEFORE they enter the silencer (big restriction like a AUS328), or do they enter from each side ie, TWO points of entry. I know AUS 328 has lower comp ratio but not sure about AUS QV, when compared to UK/Euro cars. I'm fairly sure all 2V inj cars have same comp ratio, but not sure about exhaust system.
Two points of entry, think comp ratio the same as they were leaded engines....Aus 328 is unleaded, with cat, so this may be why only one inlet. Strangely, a lot of the 308 2 valve injected cars had the large U.S. rear bumpers..don't know why.
QV's are unleaded, as in they can use it, but are not restricted to it like AUS 328. You can safely put 98 RON unleaded in your QV with no additives etc. The valves and seats are what matters, and all QV are the same, world wide. Theres no harm in putting LRP or additives in your QV, just no point to it.
I normally use the BP super dooper unleaded. Actually, as the wheels of the memory grind around, I recall now that due to our unique anti polution laws at the time the 2 valve injected cars got a lot of the U.S. engine gear....this may also have something to do with the large rear bumper...anyone know?
back on the chopping block... http://drive.com.au/used_cars/ferrari/308/perth/detail.aspx?id=2775579&pg=1&pp=1&d=0&nv=1
I suspect a very difficult car to sell. A 2 valve injected 308 must feel as powerful as a Holden Barina in today's performance terms.
Not much going for them really. Yet another example of how specialised the Ferrari market is. Looks the same as any 308; but massive performance and price differential over the 308 model range. Surprisingly perhaps, good glass cars are selling north of $100k at the moment. Crappy 2 valves are probably little more than half that.
that can't be right, unfortunately (for you) millards is for sale for a lot less than that....and so's another one that i don't remember details about.
