Last night our friend John Freeman stopped by as he's home after a long season running the Busch North Series. He drives for the Fitz-Bradshaw (Terry Bradshaw) Team. He had a great season and just finished up @ Limerock and said that course was fantastic. While racing there he said there were several other classes running as well including the SCCA folks & others.
Plenty of F-cars and GT3's as well.

John leaves this morning for California for the Toyota All Star Showdown where the best of the West meets the best of the East. It's being carried live on Speed channel Friday night for the preliminary race and Saturday night for the big race. You can check out more about John at:

Well after the conversation turned from NASCAR to Ferrari, I shared with him how happy I am with my new Kevlar clutch. Kind of baiting him along, I asked if he'd take her for a whirl and give me his thoughts on how it felt, performed, etc. Lucky for me he agreed. It was about 8:15 and we headed out down Gilead for a spirited run. John's skills were amazing!!! I've never seen shift/rev matching like that before and the way the 348 handled was equally amazing. We hit the S-turns around the end of Gilead towards Beaties Ford reving high in 3rd gear which was THRILLING. Rounding out the jaunt we launched from my favorite on ramp on 77. Exit 25 that is going South. Being the nice guy that I am, we held back traffic at the top of the ramp until all was clear. Once things looked clear, John launched and in literally no time we were in 5th and the speedo was buried well beyond the 140 mark. The car was tight and felt incredible and almost felt like she was begging for more. You know how that goes... :)

Anyways, we made it back to the casa and my heart was racing. Wow what a ride. To further add to the evening, John let me try on his new show helmet, Impact I believe is the brand, and it was tough. The paint and graphics were done by the same guy who paints Jesse James' bikes. Needless to say it was cool.

So my take away from the night was that I hear the track calling ever so loudly now. Can't wait to tackle that experience.

If you've never had your Ferrari on the track, you'll find that it's quite a thrill, and an addiction for many of us!

Doug you are going to enter a new realm! Driving on the street is fun, but nothing compared to the track. I need to get on a track, but I have sooo much crap going on.
