compliment it's my dream car! I own an M coupe, but every dreamed an boxster For only curiosity How goes?
Hey Folks, You can see the car being built at: http://www.rufautocentre.com/conversions/Boxster.asp The seal gray car in the middle of the page is mine. The only place I have it advertised at the moment is on the PCA "The Mart" website (www.pca.org). I have just put the car up for sale. Bargain hunters need not apply; RUFs don't come cheaply. Nor do they go slowly. lol And it is every-day drivable and totally reliable. Want more details? Email me. It is an awesome car, and only the lure of the new GT3 has me (very relunctantly) listing it for sale. And there's a reason for that. Splendid car, shame you have to sell it when I can't buy it. The only Boxster I'd really love to have! Good luck with the sale.
Thanks, I am seriously conflicted, here. lol It took me forever to work up to just listing it. It is exactly the car Porsche SHOULD be building.
Be sure to post it over on RENNLIST ( http://forums.rennlist.com ). I'd also say to post it on Pelican ( http://forums.pelicanparts.com ). Good luck.
I have hear this car run when I had my 993 at RufAutoCenter and I must say that it sounds as good as it looks. Again, did the Ruf guys have any suggestions on where to go with it? James
Where to go with it? You mean to advertise it? So far: rennteam, 6speedonline panorama - pca's The Mart Pelican Parts rennlist - do you have to be a paying member to advertise there? Still plan to put ads in the several PCA region's newsletters. Here is more info: This car was converted in the spring of 05. It is serial number 1 from the RUF AutoCentre in Dallas (the only US RUF dealer). You can go their website and see this car under construction: http://www.rufautocentre.com/conversions/Boxster.asp My car is the seal gray car in the middle of the page under the 2002-2004 Boxster S section. All those pictures are pics of my car during its conversion. You can see the side view of the car from the web page. I am attaching a pic of the front to this email. I don't have any of the interior, but I can get some tonight (as well as a movie clip so you can hear how awesome it sounds). Basics: All work performed by RUF Autocentre in Dallas, Tx. Donor car is a seal gray 2002 Boxster S. It had 72,500 miles on the odo at conversion time. It now has around 83,600 (less than 12k miles on the new engine). Conversion details: "Refresh" of car performed. All wear items serviced and replaced if required. 3.6L X51 crate motor installed RUF air intake RUF exhuast (headers, sports cat, mufflers) - sounds awesome! RUF-modified GT3 ECU mapping Per RUF guys, approx 365 HP all together. Carbon fibre air box installed. 996 clutch 996 flywheel Power steering cooler (radiator) RUF springs RUF wheels RUF aerokit (front clip and side skirts) RUF steering wheel RUF shifter knob RUF door sill covers RUF badges front and rear, including 3600S label on spoiler RUF pedals RUF floor mats New sports seats installed. Clear-bra installed B&M short shifter installed Brey-Krause roll bar added (can be removed) New convertible top put on in early 06. Recent yearly service performed. Two new front rotors in the box (can be installed or delivered as is). This is the perfect roadster, IMO. The power comes on smooth and drives hard right up to redline. It isn't as torquey as a 3.8L, but there is a whole new cam profile which comes online at around 5500 RPMs (due to X51) that really pushes hard to redline, and makes the most amazing sounds. It is a great horsepower car; deceptively fast. It is fairly low to the ground, and corners very flat, and with utter stability. The RUF exahust gives it a great throaty, rich howl (not too loud), and it even burbles some on de-celeration.
Yes - I know he sometimes takes cars on consignment or knows people who might be looking for one. I am pretty sure that Hans or Wayne showed me your car when it was done, one day when I was checking on my 1996 993 Targa. He did a top rebuilt on my engine because the valve guides went out like most of the 1996 993s. They were taking pictures of yours in front, probably not the same one as you posted, but maybe for their own documentation. BTW, Hans just emailed me that he has two modified 993TTs in stock right now if anybody wanted to take a look. Again, GREAT car, James
Yeah, I am seriously struggling with selling it. There are some reasons that make selling it a good thing (insurance costs, I want a GT3, etc - lol), but I am not sure I am doing the right thing, by any stretch. It is a great car, and the RUF guys take top-notch care of me.
