Has anyone seen this? I have fixed a few 360 transmissions before but none like this. I have asked around and no one has seen this that I can find.

    Phil?

    Anybody?

This same car has had a frame repair to reattach a broken motormount perch and it should be noted by all who go to aftermarket oversize wheels that it has 355-25 P Zero Rossa's that have NO give when it slams into second gear.

355/25/19. Very steamroller like. A fair bit more tire than the car and drivetrain were designed for. May not have been sole cause but 2 serious failures make it an interesting coincidence.

You are looking at what used to be 2nd gear. Lucky for the owner it didn't get to the ring and pinion or we would be shopping for a gearbox.

Ya know, actually the complete 1/2 gear set w/syncho isn't all that expensive. What else got torn up?

Main shaft is history. But you are right, so far the parts bill doesn't look huge.

Not a good angle to compare from, but :

On the left is a Novitec 12" rear w/ 355/25

On the right is an Iforged 11" rear w/ 305/30

Novitec wheel w/ tire is 10lb heavier than Iforged wheel and tire

Brian, you must be one hell of a mechanic. How do you do this wheel levitation trick again? ;) I'd hate to be dealing with that repair bill. Happy B'day BTW!!

As mentioned in previous threads is it not justifiable that FNA would decline the warranty if larger tires and wheels such as these were mounted on this car and others?

Where can you draw the line on acceptable tire/wheel mods to keep the warranty valid?

Been there done that. In their world ANY mod negates warranty coverage. In a fight you can win if you can prove they are wrong. In this case I would be taking their side. But in this case warranty is not an issue.

I may be going out on a limb here, but was the frame aligned within a reasonable tolerance? Was the transmission completely aligned with no binds on installation? You said motor mount(s) were replaced, too. If the transmission isn't aligned undue stress can occur on the transmission cogs and actually contribute or cause failure at almost anytime. I have had a failure of similar consequence on a non-Ferrari and as it turned out the motormount failed first then the transmission after the engine and trani were no longer fixed in alignment. My 02.
