Adjusting a clutch on a 348

Its a hydraulic clutch. So it cannot be adjusted. But the you can adjust clutch pedal free-play. Have you got problems with your clutch?

 

What aspect do you want to adjust??


348 clutches are shipped from the factory when new with clutch pack shims. Presuming no undue wear or damage to the clutch/pressure plate/fingers/flywheel/bearings/seals during the average duty cycle, 348 clutch life can later be extended after normal usage by simply removing these (or using shorter) clutch pack shims.


You can change the pedal pressure required for your shifts by going to a different size master cylinder. A smaller bore master cylinder will give you a better, more gradual feel on take up.


Better gear oil will make a difference in shifts, too.

Well, not really. I just cheated and took this pic out my trusty 348 hybrid manaul. My 348 lives at my brothers place. Only 1km away, but it is 12.56am here. So I dont want to go wake him to take pics of the actual pedal setup. But can do in a few days if you really like? Sorry about this blurry pic tonite.

Part numbers in pic-
1-Clutch master clyinder pushrod.
2-Adjustment nut.
3-Pedal return spring.
4-Pedal alignment pin.
5-Clutch pedal.
6-Pedal travel adjustment pin.

To adjust the clutch pedal "free play"-
Loosen lock nut on pedal alignment pin 4, then screw in the threaded pin to make slight contact with the clutch pedal in the rest position. Then screw in 1 more full turn. Tighten lock nut. This will take up any "slack" in the clutch pedal.

To adjust the clutch pedal "travel"-
Loosen locknut on rear pedal alignment pin 6. Screw out the threaded pin 3 turns. Press clutch pedal down exactly 126mm, then screw alignment pin in till it makes slight contact with the clutch pedal. Then screw in 1 more full turn. Tighten lock nut. Both clutch pedal stops are set. Recheck to make sure you have 126mm clutch pedal travel.


If you dont have 126mm pedal travel, do it again to make sure you get it right.
