You may have company in the near future. Does anyone have any comments (e.g. history) about the red 355 spyder that's currently for sale via AutoInc? Price appears to be more "on market" than the red (previously blue) 355b that's also in the market.
Its a similar key. Also comes with the CS actually. Not sure if HS sells the blanks. I asked ET once and he said no. Those with older keys, like 360, have them painted rosso corso by local painter. Quite nice.
Wow, a lot of "action" here. You guys should just go relax, do what I did, go over Batam Holiday Inn erhem not for that leisure but maybe golf for some but I opt for Spa package & get pampered for two days, would have had Go-kart as well but it rained. You guys free tomorrow morning to meet in the East with RedDevil? 9am, free parking. I'll msg you guys but I'm going Kluang later hopefully back tonight or wouldn't be able to join for breakfast. Actually I am more excited about the 911 3.2 Speedster. One of the rare 911 icon in my opinion & the latest issue of Total911 featured one in guardsRed makes me itch even more! The car on offer was white & now black but then I'm also tempted to get a nice Boxster, Coe it, add the speedster hump then put on supercharger+bodykit! About the same price @ S$120K & more modern. What do you think Harold? Is the orig. 3.2 Speedster worth that much? It's about GBP30-35K in UK recently & very rare with only 140 made in RHD. Then again, there's the restored Mondial cabriolet for the same price, not as rare but seats more (Speedster has no rear seats). BTW, CT. One of the Porsche magazine featured Sabine Schmidt teaching us how to drive on the ring complete with diagrams eg. the braking points etc. There's also an article where a guy & friend took a 35yr old 911S finishing 1900miles in less than a week sleeping in tents, motels, visiting Goodwood, LeMans 24, Ferrari, Lambo, Pagani, Ducati, MVAugusta, part of Mille Miglia & the Alps then back to UK. Now that's the kind of road trips we guys should be doing. Anyone game for it? Just bring Hp, map, wallet & go!
is the go kart operating ? chinese restaurant there is not bad ... as for spa package, how was it ? worth the money ? I can't spend more than half day there frankly, what is there to do apart from the hotel ?
Btw, a friend of mine has the guardsred one. He has had it for many years now. Acc to the Hong Brothers, there are 2 or 3 left only including the red one. I believe there is only 1 in red and the others are in white. Hongs have sold and re-sold the same car many times for many years. Should not cost too much if your really interested. For older porsches, I prefer the first generation 911 myself. Anyone knows which car I am referring to ? It could be a 912 but it used to be black and lived at Braddell. It has now moved to Sembawang near the park. You can see it when you pass by for makan. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fantastic pictures... nice car.... hope you are enjoying the ride...... very glad to have another 355 around and not exported. unfortunately i can't make it to breakfast with SF and you tomorrow... sorry, got to work. Since lung and RO1 sold their 355s, it's been lonely..... We should meet up sometime, it would be a good photo opportunity, maybe join us for one of our sunday breakfast... pm me if keen with your contact details.... cheers...
Didn't really sample the Chinese food but Dimsum was alright & the best has to be the Teppanyaki! 200g of sirlion, medium-well & cooked just to the right tenderness! Everything is in S$, not cheap. Nothing much to do there but I wanted a getaway from work & city. Actually I booked Banyan Tree Lijiang but airtickets were sold out so I settled for this & it's still cheaper than a Sentosa Spa & Resort package. Yes the Go-kart is operating & so is the beach bike. I'll make a trip to Lijiang, Shangrila & Tibet when there's opportunity. Those places are simply enchanting & good for the soul.
Autobahn is selling the Speedster for S$120k & yes they've sold this several times, imagine their profit on her! I've seen that black 911 few times when I was young & it was very nice. Not sure which exact model it is & my mechanic has one S model in pieces waiting to be restored. I believe that red 355spider is the one I saw in Ubi last year, very reasonable price. Worth a serious consideration!
The 355 spider is a reasonable price. Had considered changing to it but have since decided against it as condition/history is everything to me. Interestingly enough Jonathan I am going after a speedster right now. Only two left in Singapore, the ex White car that used to belong to Dinesh (now black and being sold through Autobahn) and the red speedster owned by my friend. I have already made an offer to my friend (considerably more than what I value the black one at), but the red one is totally original and absolutely perfect and has always been serviced by Stuttgart, very few owners (I have known them all) and great mileage. Target to acquire a speedster is soon, and it will sit alongside the 348! The black speedster will be my second choice if the red speedster deal falls through. I am not dealing through Autobahn for that one though as I dont want to pay the premium to them, rather negotiating a deal direct with the owner if required. Needs a lot of work though as I would want it to go back to original and interior condition etc is not great. Price should be discounted accordingly.
One thing to note about the speedster- it is purely a fair weather car. If anyone worries about how a targa top on a 348 leaks... they aint seen anything yet! A speedster might as well not have a roof.... seriously.
RedDevil, superb car.... but feel that car should go back to the original colour combo of monaco blue/white interior.... that was so rare and stunning!! Guess you could always do that once you are tired of the current combo (having said that I do love the current combo as well)...
May i ask which 2000 red 360? I have been following closely, and dont recall this car.... Called up Autoinc ....the Red 355 Spyder has been sold!!!!
If your going to Tibet, consider flying into Qinghai and taking the train from there to Lhasa. The most spectacular parts of the railway is from there onwards and its only about a days trip. If you start from Beijing or Shanghai, its about 60 hours and not much to see until you reach Qinghai. If flying completely, change at Xian for stopover for 2 to 3 days. I really enjoyed Tibet and highly recommend it to you but a little more than usual fitness will be useful. High Altitude sickness did not get me but all the women in my group were affected. Hotels not bad if your not fussy.
Last Sunday's classified - I did not see the car - just a call - if your interested, I think HS has a few or will have soon. Yes, not suprised if the spider has been sold. Last year it also sold very quickly. Btw, its spelt spider, unless its a 550.
Hey Harold, should've joined us earlier. We left @ almost 12 noon & I told him your Modena yellow has a richer tone! Anyway, just the 355spider, 360 spider, an immaculate XJS & my Alfa. Most of you guys must be busy or sleeping away Think you deserve the Total911 magazine more than me, I'll pass you next few days when you're free. They said when they sold the Speedster new back in the late 80s, owners had to sign an agreement of understanding that it leaks! & you mean this right? I saw it @ Stuttgart recently. Fcars hold their value amazingly well...an almost 7 year old car can still fetch >50% of the original price. Will be interesting to see if at the end of 10 years( or even now) for the current 360s ... pple still keep them local or export them. Did any of the guys here owned a 355 when it was 7 year old?? Was it the same economics ie..more worthwhile exporting than trying to sell in the local market? The way things are going, my bet is that the 360s will be like the 355s--almost all exported. So eventually, Fcar ownership will be restricted to those few who are fortunate and moneyed enough to slap down the .8 mil at HS to buy brand new .
Depends on the condition of the cars then but I suspect things will be very different now because many of the 355s had very high export values due to S$70K+/- COEs & 80% parf. I would say it's better off exporting them then & 355 is a reputable model which accounts for it's relatively easy sale. I was tempted on used 360s but now it seems that the F430 is a much better car in everyway. What do you guys think about this car? Quite a bargain for it's looks, performance & technology. http://www.fast-autos.com/exotic-cars/Gumpert_Apollo.html Here's a video of the Gumpert Apollo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ko2M74EmwQ&mode=related&search=
