Well, I have most everything disconnected, (I think) and I’m ready to drop the engine.

How in the world do you get the ECU cables through the firewall?

Do you have to remove the carpet? If so how does the leather sill above the ECU panels come out?

    It’s a 99 355 F1

If you have the cover off and the cables disconnected it all goes through that little hole. It is so typical of Ferrari to make the hole JUST big enough for the connectors when it just as easily could have been 2 inches bigger.

All the smaller connectors go first and the big one last. Lean over the fender at first and pull as much wire through as you can and as the motor comes out feed with one hand through the door and pull with the other through the fender well. Reassembly is a little more difficult but is basically a reverse of the process.

I have found that it helps to drop the fuel tank about an inch.

At least there is only one ECU on the later 355s. I remember pulling 2 thru on my 348 what a PITA. Someone had a little too much wine at lunch when they designed that concept and than they let him do it again on the '96-'99 355s LOL. Regards, Vern

well, I'm going to do it today, hope it goes easier than the HP power steering line. that took two men and a boy to break loose, my wrist is still sore.

My trick is to tie fishing line on the end of the connector so I can pull it back through on reinstall. That makes it quick and easy.

What I did was to raise the car little bit and then push as much of the harness through as I could. Then raised the car some more and fed through more harness. Try that untill you have it all the way out.

Thanks guys, actually it wasn't that bad. The car is on a lift so I had to use a ladder to feed the harness through.

Worst part was the 6mm stud in the center holding the ECU broke it's spot weld and it took about a half hour just to get the nut off so I could unplug the ECU.
