Exactly why 348's got such bad rap in early 90's. No comparison on build quality or reliability. I don't know the numbers, but probably equal in performance.

But (big but) look at values of the 2 cars now. A Ferrari will hold it's value like no other car I have owned. It will cost more to maintain though. If you are on a budget I would definitely go for the NSX, but the Ferrari adds something in mystique that you will not get from an Acura.

Neither car will perform like a modern sports car. Either car will be fun to own and drive. Buy the nicest example you can afford of either model and enjoy.

    NSX:
    - Can be driven every day.
    - Reliable
    - Can be serviced locally
    - Faster, lighter, better handling

    Ferrari:
    - Strong name recognition
    - Like others have said 'It's a Ferrari'

NSX all the way, IMHO. It can't be that bad a car since Jensen Button is driving one when he isn't at the track in his F-1 car...which is...dare I say it...a Honda. Then again...maybe Honda gave him the car. :)

If you can find a good clean NSX, you will find that the car is a joy to drive, and can be used as a daily driver or a weekend car.

Contrary to an earlier post, parts are not necessairly cheap for an NSX, as it was limited production (by Japanese standards) and now is no longer in production. I picked up a '91 NSX that had been abused through lack of maintenance by the previous (non-original) owner, and I can tell you some of the parts are not cheap! However, the car is now absolutely mechanically sound and great fun to drive. Thank God the bodywork and interior were still pristine!

I also love Ferrari's. I've never driven one..and I would love to. I almost purchased a 348...but decided on the NSX instead...my personal choice.

You can probably venture over to NSX Prime and read the ramblings of some folks that are equally as passionate about the NSX as is everyone here about Ferrari's. The bottom line is...from a used car perspective...comparing the NSX and the 348...my vote would be for the NSX.

Regardless...whatever you choose to purchase, have fun driving it!

You were a big NSX fan in the 80's? Since the car was not made until 1990 as a 91 model, how were you a big fan in the 80's?

Wow, that is a nice load of BS to try and change the subject when you make a mistake. If I recall correctly there have been speed records made by Firebirds and Trans Ams also. Must be that GM F-body "strength of design"

I think the NSX is an awesome car, and I also like the sound and styling of many F-cars, but there are some here who are blinded by the name and status they think the name provides. I love old Corvettes too, but would never try to pretend they are not relatively poor built cars with performance that many non-sporting sedans of today would decimate.

Well, first post, so: welcome. :)

    <breathes into paper bag>

Now that that's out of the way, I think we have too many people who have never driven a Ferrari explaining why the NSX is better. ;)

Trust me, I've been an NSX fan since 1972 (the CVCC version) and I still went with a Ferrari.

Knew it would get down to this level 3 days ago. Time to let it go, and for the 348 Brotherhood to go do what they do best, enjoy the ride and sound of our 348's (that no NSX it its wildest and most colorfull dream could ever imagine)

Haha so true. There is something indescribable that makes (and made) me love my 328 over the NSX, though the NSX bests it in every category! Ended up my NSX got dusty because it was never driven.

That said I miss the car now that its gone. :(

I should say, a red/black wheel lowered 348CH is a striking car that I envy seeing.

Yeah jvmax, I think that you'll find that very few NSX owners want to "fool" people with the looks of the car.

Sounds to me like you bought the wrong car for you in the first place.

    I didnt :)

Seems as if NSX-owners hijacked the thread. :D

I don't think so. I think you will find several Ferrari owners / enthusiasts suggesting the NSX for the OP. It really does fit the situation better. I think there is too much harping about Ferrari owners being delusional and blinded by the brand. it seems like those people just want someone to write that the NSX is better than the Ferrari. There are several NSX driving Fchatters in South Florida that have cars that I really admire, but I am glad that I bought the 348. I could have just as easily bought an NSX, but did not pursue that option.

Bottom line is that I think we all enjoy driving and want something that is limited production and exotic that no one else has. It looks like most Ferrari owners either considered NSX's/ 911's or have owned/currently own these cars. And it not always about speed or drivability as I consider these cars rolling pieces of art.

I have actually put together a website highlighting the cars I have owned and currently own. Please feel free to check it out as you will get a better idea of what I am talking about.
