Are you working on your final design rendering?, let's present our final proposals, so that we can move on the project.
Michiel. You need to give us some design parameters for the the final design proposals, how many? one design proposal or two ? It will make it easier for us to move forward with the project, if you told us how you want to go about it from now on. Waiting for news from you Ciao Italo
Same here... Fuoriserie, I asked you some pages ago to stop sketching and pick one special design to put it on the given chassis. You're getting yourself lost in sketching details. The overall bodyshape is the most important and details like holes, curves, creases will grow during the process. So please start designing your own concept on the chassis and see what happens almost automatically with the details.
I am attaching a pdf of the current chassis design with a small number of dimensions. I dont give more for now as the point is not to get caught up in the math currently, only to use it as a general guideline. The rollover structure and A pillar sweep structures are representations only, do not use them to shape your roofline, think of them only as minimum dimension guidelines. We are at a give and take status now, Once I have designs for the overall shape frozen, I can adapt the chassis to suit, remember its only in a computer now and can be changed easily. The details and revisions will come later. It is like a sack race, we both have a foot in the sack and we have to work together to cross the finish line. Cheers Eric Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm swamped with work and my nightmare of a remodel. I was about to throw down the law when my contractor calls and says one of his worker's wife was just killed in a traffic accident. Stuff like this, not all to this extent, have been happening throughout the project. AAAGGGHHHHH!!! Anyways, I'm getting away tomorrow to see the last ALMS race at Laguna Seca. Doing the red-eye drive up at 2AM and coming right back after the race. It's going to be a long day. But any time I can get to spend with my Dino is cherished. Sounds like you're pretty busy these days as well Michiel.
Yes, I am! But I love it! I'm living a dream right now. Too bad I can't spend much time in this Dino-project for a moment... Enjoy the race!
OK, race is over. Our driver has retired. Time to get this project back on track. So where does it stand??
It was taking me too long to finish my A3 rendering,......, and being busy with some other work...... I decided to post my final A4 sketch instead.. Will try to post my rear view final A4 sketch tomorrow.......enjoy.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Do whatever it takes to "sell" your concept to the members of the board (in this case all the team members and the audience). Present your best and most realistic renderings in high quality and try to explain as clear as possible why "we" should choose your design. I will kick in one or two concepts later. I'm sure Mr. Freitas will also have some nice things to show.
I suggest that we post a date that all designs be submitted so we can then decide the choice, first, second and third. Since this has been going on for some months, how about December 1 deadline? Then we can make a decision by Feb 1, 2007 as to our choice for the new Dino. Unless, of course, all of you want to keep this going indefinetely.
I agree with you, December 1 is a good deadline, it will give everyone more time to complete the design project. You have my vote.
Taking advantage of the new deadline, i will post my complete design project, just before the new deadline. No use in rushing the design at this stage....... I've just noticed that 77 people downladed my sketch, but with no feedback????? Very little discussions in here lately, has this project lost it's appeal??????? Just a few thoughts.....
Don't worry. Just trust your own senses and show us what you think is best. I think the reason why there are so little discussions is that your concept is quite clear now. It only shows new details in every sketch. When you move on to your final concept, there will be more to be discussed.
i think it looks nice... don't take this the wrong way please, but when i look at it i see more of a modified Mitsubishi Eclipse (the new ones) than i do ferrari. that's just me though, but you did as for discussion i'm going to try to come up with a final concept prior to the deadline (Dec 1 correct?) and will post up my fledgling attempt.
No problem, we are all entitled to our opinions and it's good to discuss them, after all this is an open forum . We are her to share information, and our interest in ferraris. I have't seen a new eclipse, but will look for it on the net to see the similarities..... The deadline is December 1, so we all have time to fine tune our new designs.
Foe those interested in the design of the Dino Speciale, you can see the original sketches of the designer here: http://www.conceptcars.it/martin/opinione.htm
sorry if i'm raining on your parade. does anyone know what the design philosophy actually was for the original Dino? what was ferrari setting out to create? was it supposed to be an entry level ferrari or was it supposed to be a bargain super car? what about now? was it (should this be) a work of form following function or was it beauty before prowess? i only ask because i tend to see the utility of features on a vehicle (shape, curve, flow) as beautiful when they are serving a function but still have an artistic flair. i guess what i'm asking is, what makes a design worthy of being a ferrari? is there a thread on this somewhere already?
